Thanks a lot. | Do you have any accounts at the moment?
Depending on them , you can get more accounts online.
I use the following with success
RBS
NatWest
I also prefer to have current accounts or basic accounts. THey make my use with paypal much easier.
Avoid Lloyds, imo.
Others should chime in too | The Following User Says Thank You to GreenBean For This Useful Post: | |

No, dont be put off by that.
All you need is a new account number.
You can have the same Sort code. As long as the account number is new, you should be fine.
Just confirm there have been no problems with these banks . |

Keep in mind, you also do not want to be opening too many bank accounts across the board.
Your existing banks should not give problems. |

Bank of Scotland, Co-operative Bank, Barclays Saver (may not like stealth names), Tesco Saver .. most UK banks are working fine. You want a basic account however.

I'm using Halifax. They allow you to make accounts online which I just use to withdraw into from paypal and then transfer to my main account. I leave 1 pound in each of them and I have had no problems for a year now. But I have been with Halifax since I was a kid, so maybe that gives more trust. I have 5-6 accounts, not going to be opening more, though as that might be a risk.
You can close them anytime and then open new ones.
Online Savers
Positives:
Easy to open
Fast - you can make the bank account and then add it to paypal instantly. (At least for me I have done this 5 times)
Cheap - costs 1 pound to open an account
No overdraft so paypal can't take your money
Verify instantly with paypal because of online banking
Negatives:
If you're up late at night like me it can be annoying sometimes. Halifax like to do their maintenance and updates at night time, so it's regularly down at 2-6 am on random days.

I try to leave 25% of anything I transfer into the savings account from PP in the savings account to build up a nice sum

You can close them anytime and then open new ones. | Re Halifax accounts; do you open new ones via the sign up page? Or do you create extra from within an existing account?

Can someone clear something up for me please?
I was under the impression that a Savings Account required a Direct Debit instruction as Paypal sets this up when verifying the account.
Or is the Direct Debit used only for sending money from the Bank Account to the Paypal Account?
I need to brush up on my knowledge of Savings Accounts!
Here is a list of Saving Accounts that use Direct Debits as of April 2014. Savings accounts deposits by Direct Debit? - MoneySavingExpert.com Forums |
