I have read that the limit is £2000 before they start asking for id ? My client has to send me £150 and i would prefer to avoid fees, so i want him to send it as a friend. However, I dont want him to send money, if it is going to get limited right after he sends it.

The money might not get put on hold with it being a friends and family payment but I would suggest that a fresh account receiving a £150 payment straight away might trigger some other security checks on your account.

Maybe a request for ID docs straight away?

that 2000 is to comply with the govt ,but Paypal has its own rules,
what you are doing is fee avoidance.
you can try a small amount and see if it is withheld, but it does not mean larger amount would not be withheld.
When someone pays you via paypal, the fund is immediately credited to your account, but it takes 1 or more days for Paypal to collect the money from him,so it wants some assurance if things dont go right,it has your bank account/credit card .

You will undoubtedly get your account limited with Paypal asking for documents if you accept that as a F&F payment on your first transaction. Really bad idea. You need to naturally age the account with normal looking transactions before you even consider doing something like that.

But Paypal advertises how easy it is to send fund to your friend and vice versa,it would be a kill joy if you open an account and find out you cant access your fund.
Paypal should say add your bank account and cc when you sign up,so money is not in limbo

What Paypal advertises publicly does not apply to us and you're foolish if you think it does. We have to run our accounts differently due to the nature of the accounts we use.

The way their platform works vs their advertisements...it's not as easy as they make it sound, sad to say

That’s so they have people working for them who are self employed so amazon don’t have to deal with paying tax on their wages and offering benefits like sick pay and holidays

With PayPal’s new “Claim it” rule those days are now over. You have to provide legit name and SSN in order to send or spend money from your PayPal balance.

So if you have 20 PayPal accts, your gonna have to open 20 bank accts, link them, and withdraw in order to get paid.

If it's US PP acc, you would need VCC,VBA and SSN in order to send or receive the payment.
