Hey guys, paypal just decided in the buyers favor (who has little to no credibility on ebay) over a $530 transaction with me (a seller with hundreds, maybe thousands of successful shipments, no undelivered items, many purchases, and stellar 100% positive 275ish feedback on ebay)
I'm super pissed. The transaction happened about 2 months ago, and I guess I'm stupid because I didn't get a require a signature. Delivery confirmation wasn't available with the shipping option I purchased, so I guess you could say it's my fault, but I still think that paypal could have come to a different decision, based off of my reputation/credibility compared to the buyers.
Here's the entire conversation I with a support representative: https://jpst.it/1J79c
Anyway, anybody who actually read that, do you really think there's nothing I can do now? I already talked with USPS and they said I can't file a claim because there's no delivery confirmation.
If there's nothing I can do, should I just not pay it? My paypal account is limited right now, as I didn't have any money in it for them to give to the buyer (it's at around -530) I guess I could just make a new account... Will I get in trouble?
This happened only 20 minutes ago, so I apologize for any mistakes, I'm still upset and flustered

Anything over $250mneeds a signature.
I hate to say it but it’s an expensive lesson to learn.

Thanks for the reply. I agree, but I still don't want to back down yet. I have two ideas:
- Ship another package to buyer, this time with signature confirmation -> appeal case on paypal
- Photoshop a receipt saying that I've already refunded the buyer
I know, I know, they're kinda sketchy, but does anyone have anything to say about those?

I'm gonna have to side with support on this. Always have tracking and proof of delivery. I never sent anything out without it.

On a side note this was educational to read on how support operates.

You MUST have proof of delivery. If it's not available for the carrier you are using, that's on you. You need to use another carrier (FedEx?) that supports it.
Without POD, you are going to lose every time, sorry to say.

I know, I know, they're kinda sketchy, but does anyone have anything to say about those? | After reading your OP, your chat with CS and this quoted follow up, I was going advise you to cease being ridiculous, but I thought it better to leave you with a quote from J.B Matthews:
"Unless a man has trained himself for his chance, the chance will only make him ridiculous."

I know, I know, they're kinda sketchy, but does anyone have anything to say about those? | Yes, do this. Just post a letter, with tracked and signature included. However, don't upload the tracking to the case otherwise the buyer could just refuse to accept the letter. Only upload the tracking after it shows signed for by the buyer.
Had to do a lot of this to win cases when I was selling digital items.

Humor me, and tell me what shipping service you used to ship a $530 phone that doesn't provide proof of delivery?

Even PO Boxes and rural route addresses are always valid for POD. Something doesn't make sense here.
