Arrow Why PayPal limit us 180 days?

Why PayPal limits us with the 180 days after they request us with proof of shipments (even if valid) and supplier invoice?
What was your experience and why do you think they blocked you?

I am yet to find an answer to this and the more I hear from other people the more I can find a solution to this and help each others...

I ran for 5 years an ebay business and almost every single item i sell is highly profitable, PayPal is the only thing holding me back not allowing me to literally become a millionaire by blocking my account with the 180 days issue after providing the invoice and proof of shipments...

You'd be surprised By the way in the UK, the word "literally" can = figure of speech.

Paypay will sometimes allow sales to continue (with a deadline in place) while they wait to receive the requested docs.

While this has been a near-death experience for some on here, I have not survived it yet.
I'd submit the docs, call in the hearse and be ready to move along if I were OP

its 180 days because the buyer has that long to dispute a transaction. Paypal wants to make sure the funds are available.

MyBad. I remember now.

PayPal worked in line with the policies of credit card companies and banks and other financial institutions.

This hold of 180 days has always been an issue. For stealth accounts not prepared, it might be a death sentence. For a prepared seller a great fright.

IMHO, the screws were really put on sellers. Buyers were treated like g-ds. Sellers have to fight for their money & rights.

If a buyer made a claim after limitation, the account balance was used for reimbursement. (Hence the need to practise leaving little to no funds, (if you get my drift

A man once said, "Trust takes time to build, and seconds to break.", this is the case with PayPal, I don't think PayPal wants to ban anyone, but criminals can easily launder money through it and that's why they ban anyone suspicious.

There is something happened definitely with paypal.
100% sure.
Because i have selling very high risk items with value of starting from 4000$ which you can sell 1 or 2 items per month only. So in that case i was need to make new accounts every month.
So ebay and paypal was new accs 1-2 days old accs. My first listings was those items. And they sold. Of course paypal has asked ID, Proof of address, Invoice from supplier, Provide shipment information. After all docs was provided paypal has reinstated accounts in next day ( after 24h ) ofcourse 21 day hold remains.
That way i have worked till about April.

Now paypal is doing differently - item sold. They ask everything same docs as previously - after i provide all docs sometimes they reinstate account and after couple hours - we dont want to do business with you ! Sometimes stright away after docs is permanent limitation.

There is nothing familiar with high or not high risk listings. There is something changed in paypal.

Probably. But this cannot affect all EU country's.
From my country there is no any sellers even from neighbour country's there is no one who sell this stuff. I don't think this is of bad sellers.

Need to find someone who works in paypal and ask straight question 😀😀

But i want to think there is something changed in paypal generally but i don't know what exactly

180 days is the standard charge back/dispute window. That said, there are some types of credit card transactions that can be charged back and disputed as long as 540 days beyond the transaction date. Those are VISA/MC/AMEX rules and have nothing to do with PayPal, however.

From PayPal's standpoint, 6 months (180 days) represents a window of time when most disputes can be processed.

180 days -- enough for them to earn a decent amount of interest out of your funds

Paypal is not making 180 days hold without account limitation.

Here is question why it happens when paypal limit account or don't want to do business with account holder.

Why paypal is giving 180 days that is clear. But problem is account limitation.

Typically they cease wanting to do business with you if your actions are deemed as too high risk for them. In that case any funds in the account will immediately be frozen and you then have to wait 180 days just in case there are any claims or disputes. This ensures there will be money on hand during that time. They don't want you to withdrawal it all and be left holding the bag.

It's a form of risk mitigation for them.

But not always is happening like that. For example:
Now i have 2 accounts limited with 180 days hold one account is reinstated and waiting until item is delivered ( no 180 days hold )
In 1 week period.

Its not strict. You see there is expectations. Why ? How ? What is different ? Monkeys who reviewing accounts ?

I always tell people,if you have your own website or selling outside Ebay, get a merchant account ,your transaction fee would be less than 30 cents and your rate would not be 2.9%.
if there is chargeback, they will help you fight the chargeback and communicate with the buyer cc issuer and tell you what they have to say, which Paypal does not tell you
