Rant : Australian Buyers

I sell a seasonal item and half the year I sell to the northern hemisphere and half the year southern.

I have about 1/100 'deadbeat' bidders in the NH but when it rolls round to the SH (which is mainly Australians) I get up around 5-6 out of 100 not paying.

I'm not trying to be anti aussie but this is quite ridiculous. What's worse is that you can't get your list fee back and it's twice as much as UK/US :>

I do 30% of my sales on Ebay AU and have had 0 non payers so far this year....

But I guess it depends on what you sell and in what format.

Subjectively I find my Aussie sales department runs much smoother than my UK one....

does it not cost a fortune for uk sellers to post to oz? i used to sell worldwide but too many conmen and costs to get signed for is stupid

Oz buyers are generally great, It doesnt cost loads to send to oz from UK if it is unsigned, I wouldnt sell high item goods, and stipulate that you are not responsible for post system loss and will just keep proof of postage, packages get there remarkably quickly imo

I sell in Europe, OMG Dutch buyers, they are so tight, the postage has to be exactly what it costs to send and no more or they complain about it, got one that wanted refund on 5p over on postage! Dutch have this recycling culture, where they leave their old stuff on side of the road for others to pick up if they need it, I suppose that is quite a good thing ...but it means they like freebies....
