FBA requires capital outlay
Fullfillment by yourself -if you dont have much merchandise,why not your closet,garage,living room,bedroom,under the bed,dining table.shoe box.

some merchandise,it is not possible to stock all styles and models,so dropshipping from the manufacturers should be fine .
Manufacturer,whole distributors are dropshipping,buying from another retailer after receiving money from customer is retail arbitrage

Depends on what you are stocking,
picking up the right kind of merchandise at a wholesale price ,you can make a decent profit selling retail,thats what most brick and mortar retailers do.
But then it does require you to have some capital.but you have the advantage of not having to pay store rent,utilities,insurance,and shoplifting

If you buy from factory/wholesaler/distributor ,you can make a profit,but not as much as before
.
You have t o avoid those items where your wholesaler is also selling on the same venue,how can you compete with your wholesaler.
There are some items you can beat the wholesalers,like gold jewelry.
