For those of you who ship USPS,do you schedule free pickup?
If so,how is your experience,now Xmas is approaching and weather is turning cold ?

I go to USPS.com once a year and schedule pickups for the next 365 days. Our mail carrier stops at our house every day either way because she knows us, but our local post master has told us in the past that if we want to make sure all of our shipments get scanned in, then we need to schedule pickups. Their website allows you to schedule pickups for up to a year in advance. The number you schedule doesn't need to be accurate as long as it's more than you're actually sending out.

The weather and the holiday season are irrelevant factors since USPS is going to come to our house every day anyway. We've never noticed any kind of interruptions due to either of those things.

good for you,my old carrier is now promoted to be a teacher to train the newly hired,my new carrier gets Monday off.
No one came yesterday so I schedule one today,right now I am debating if I should drive to our nearby USPS/.UPS/.FedExp store and drop them off myself or wait for someone to show up late afternoon.
There are many excuses if they dont show up-getting too late,too dark,too cold,newly hired,never get the notice?
Sometimes someone will show up and I did not schedule a pickup,?
Years ago a trainee from an AFRICAN country starting with N asked to use my bathroom and I lost an expensive item,ten days later she came back to pickup my shipments altho I did not schedule one.
Later I was told she got her own route,AKA she was fired ,they always said someone got his own route!
Then recently another person showed up on Monday,he said he is the Monday guy who goes around picking up packages,altho I did not schedule one,do I have any packages?
They are supposed to show you the pickup sheet,they usually keep it in their car.

Pickups with USPS from residential locations are done during your regular mail delivery. Unless you're a commercial operation with a physical store they don't make any special trips to pick up your shipments.

If you scheduled a pickup and your mail carrier didn't pick up your shipments when they delivered your mail, I recommend calling your post office to point out the mistake.

Realistically none of those are valid excuses. Too late? The deadline to schedule a pickup for the next day on USPS.com is midnight EST. They always know what places have pickups scheduled the following day. Too dark? It's the mail carriers job to deliver and pick up mail and they usually work during business hours. Too cold? Again it's their job and I'm sure they have jackets. Newly hired? If they ignored your scheduled pickup then they aren't doing their job and you should point it out to their supervisor. Never got the notice? This isn't possible since it's automated and done online.
