telegram allows the messages to destruct after some time but i read the app is not as secure as watsapp
never used it before so trying to work out the best way | Telegram and WhatsApp offer both some privacy at the different levels. Depending on what you are looking for, you might choose to go for Telegram or WhatsApp.
WhatsApp uses End-to-End Encryption by default for chats and calls. However they have your phone number, they have your IP, your location, your contacts and other meta data all ready to be handed over if needed.
Telegram is a good alternative to collaboration tools like Slack, offers good privacy and good flexibility. By default, chats are encrypted (not End-to-End) but using encryption keys which are shared through different servers in different locations around the world (if you think about this here, you understand what it means). Furthermore, you can enforce End-to-End if you really need and almost get the same features you have on Apps like Signal.
You can share files, create communities etc. A lot of flexibility and interesting features.
You can also decide to not share your phone number with your contacts (unlike WhatsApp).
All these Apps, even Signal, have your metadata, your IP (without IP you can't communicate online!), just like without a key, you can't drive a car, but the fact that you have the key does not mean the car belongs to you.
Always remember, there is no such App that gives you 100% anonymity!
