Default How long does it take for a payment to cancel?

My basic question is lets say someone sends me a payment and then decides to cancel a few hours later how long will it take for it to register the payment has been canceled and for the funds in my account to disapear?

I have always assumed it was almost as soon as they clicked cancel it would happen.

Cancel? Like an eCheck cancel?

Or they sent you a message saying they want to cancel a payment?

No they sent a payment earlier and now they said they are going to cancel it. Wasn't an echeck or anything just a regular payment on paypal that said it was completed. Now they say they are going to cancel, I have the funds in my paypal, can they cancel still? Or do they have to do the dispute process?

Maybe they can call paypal and ask to cancel the payment, not sure..
But there is no ""cancel"" button they can just click on...

Nope, better than that. Once they have initiated the withdrawal from paypal, it can not be stopped.

from the Help Centre:

How do I cancel a withdrawal?

Question :
Answer :
Unfortunately, once you’ve initiated a withdrawal from your PayPal account, it can’t be canceled.

This answer is in the broadest sense of a reply to your question. That user may make certain claims about the validity of the payment & paypal will step in by stopping payment etc.
Is this what you are after or is there something else

If the buyer want's to cancel.. you can either do a refund for them or they can dispute the payment. It's probably best you refund the payment if it 'shows up' in your account.

If they didn't send it, or you don't see it yet.. then don't worry about it.
