Exchanges. It's free with coinbase if you pay via ACH. Gemini charges something like $35 for $2700 worth of BTC.

They don't take all that long to "verify" you. They'll ask for an ID selfie and you'll usually be good to go by the next business day.

Coinbase for spending
Gemini for "investing"

I think if you use the ACH option in Coinbase, there's no fee, but you can't send the BTC out of your coinbase wallet for a week while the ACH processes. If you pay with a card on coinbase there is a fee but you can spend your BTC instantly.

Gemini is ACH only and holds all buys for 5 business days before you can spend.

If you're going with coinbase, go with coinbasepro, you'll save on fees

It appears coinbase pro is also ACH/wire only (like gemini).

So it's free either way to ACH with coinbase/coinbase pro but you have to wait several days to spend or send your crypto from your coinbase account. There's only a cost difference between the two if you pay with a card.

I find that luno.com has lower fees than Coinbase

I have been Luno for approximately 3 months now and I have had no problems

I hardly use my Coinbase account after joining Luno as Lunos fees are cheaper

Coinbase is still handy for myself as they give you a Coinbase debit card and you can buy stuff with any of your digital currency via the card which is quite fun
Many other companies offer a BTC debit card eg Wirex

I trust Coinbase as a company so I do not mind leaving money in my account with them as opposed to some other 'flakey' companies
I have been with Coinbase for a number of years with zero problems so sometimes I do not mind paying their fees

Every company has their pros and cons

Personally, I open accounts with most of them and work it out from there
