Default Providing False Tracking # to get refund?

Guys, what if we switch to buyer's side for a moment. Let's say buyer received bad merchandise, and returning is a drag. There is a paypal claim, hasn't been escalated to paypal yet, and the seller is asking for tracking #.. What if buyer gives him false tracking #, like not even the empty envelope into seller's zip one, but just some old tracking # that isn't even going to seller's address.

Is refund automatic? Or the seller looks at it, and says I haven't received nothing, and does not give a refund?

I have been scammed actually. Seller send me a brick, literally. I wrote that in paypal dispute. Guess what? They want me to send the brick back in order to get a refund.

Done CC chargeback, those are investigating. Results of that are unknown yet. I thought maybe I can cheat the system here, give some false tracking # and get my money back.


Aside from that, is the status says "claim" is that same as being reviewed by paypal, or is it being reviewed by seller? I'm trying to figure out with what kind of fools I'm dealing with there.
