Default end game for internal sellers!! specially chinese

What do you think guys chinese will no longer able to sell at cheap price!! seems like end game for them in UK

Hello!
With brexit, a new set of VAT regulations will be implemented in the UK market from January 1, 2021. This email contains information that may be critical to your business. Please read it carefully.

If you ship goods from outside the UK to UK buyers:

O) the current VAT exemption policy will be cancelled for goods with a consignment value less than $15. All goods you sell are subject to VAT.

O) if the value of the consignment does not exceed gbp135, the applicable VAT must be collected and paid by Amazon.

O) if the value of the consignment exceeds £ 135, you will still have to pay your own VAT and all import duties as at present.

If you ship goods to a UK buyer through inventory in the UK and your company is incorporated outside the UK, the applicable VAT must be collected and paid by Amazon. This applies to both sellers using Amazon logistics in the UK and sellers using third-party distribution.

If you ship goods to a UK buyer from outside the UK and the buyer has VAT registered in the UK (corporate and institutional buyers), Amazon does not need to collect and pay VAT on behalf of you. Buyers who have registered VAT can declare UK VAT on their own through their VAT returns.

In response to these changes, please ensure that the details of your seller's platform account are up-to-date, and that the market price published in Amazon mall always includes VAT.

The UK government expects to issue a final revision of the VAT legislation in the fourth quarter of 2020. We will help you prepare for these changes and will keep you informed of any changes in current expectations. Please refer to our help page for the latest information: https://sellercentral-europe.amazon....F678GXLDTTTETZ

Please also note that the above changes will not change your VAT registration obligations. If you need help with VAT registration and reporting in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland and the Czech Republic, please visit Amazon VAT integration services page to register: https://sellercentral-europe.amazon....rvices?ref=eu_ DR_ VISALP#/welcome。

Thank you for choosing Amazon!

All chinese sellers are pushing facebook ads and doing shopify though aren't they ? they'll still find a workaround for amazon / ebay.

Probably means paying someone in the UK to use their details and bring them into the business.

If you live in uk then nothing will change but if you live outside UK then Amazon and ebay will collect your vat and pay to hmrc

Means they will charge you 20% from sale plus fees

Just to be clear, this is an Amazon thing, it's not UK law, not yet anyway.
I suspect it's a result of Amazons whiter-than-white approach as part of the voluntary code they agreed to with UK HMRC.

(You can import commercial/non-gift goods up to £15.00 in value VAT free. )

arrived mail 2 days ago :

As announced in our September Seller Update, eBay will be legally required to begin collecting and remitting VAT for UK imports from 1 January 2021. From that date, eBay will have to charge buyers the applicable VAT amount directly and remit this sum to the relevant authorities.

UK sellers trading domestically and all sellers trading with UK buyers and listing on the UK or any EU site will need to provide both gross prices as well as the applicable VAT rate used to calculate the gross price on all listings. If sellers do not specify gross prices and VAT rates, eBay will have to assume that the price provided is the net price, and will add VAT on top of the price displayed to buyers.

We strongly urge sellers listing on eBay.co.uk or other European eBay sites to specify the applicable VAT rates on existing listings as soon as possible. All new listings should include a VAT rate. You will find the field for the VAT rate beside the price when you create or edit listings.

What you need to know:

- From 1 January 2021, eBay will start to collect and remit VAT for UK imports on all consignments with a value of up to £135. There will no longer be a VAT exemption for small consignments up to £15.
- In cases where the seller is a non-UK business and the goods are already in the UK, eBay will collect and remit VAT for goods sold to consumers within the UK, regardless of their value.
- Sellers should begin listing the applicable VAT rates on all their existing and new listings as soon as possible.
- From 1 March 2021, eBay will make it mandatory to add the VAT rate on all UK and EU sites when listing items.

Chinese will always find a way to game the system. They are like a disease spreading to each region until it becomes a wasteland.

100%. They are everywhere and nobody cares. Look at Amazon, they even have videos on Chinese language for all Amazon University topics. English and Chinese)))) LOL, they will soon wash out the dollar from USA and one day USA will loose dollar monopoly))) Even IT engineers are more likely go to work to China soon. End of America is coming. RIP

Chinese sellers will definitely find another way.

To be fair, if I can wait for stock I buy off ebay ... but the same items are cheaper on alibaba / aliexpress

But if I need it now. I pay nearly double the price and buy off amazon prime because I know i'll get it next day.
