Default What are ebays rules around opening cases?

Question as per title.
I set my dispatch time to 30 days, Which thought would mean the buyer could not open a case at least until it had been dispatched. But ive had a buyer open a not received case 2 weeks after purchase.
What are the rules around this and can seller have any influence on the timescale?

Also related question, the only tracked delivery i can get does not provide confirmation of delivery on their website, (Doesnt update after it leaving ireland, dont ask me why) you need to phone them and then they check their database and tell you it arrived in the destination country on whatever date and you now need to phone that countries postal service and quote to them the tracking number for further updates.

All this means it is useless for Ebay item not received cases, doesnt it?

To be honest, this is exactly how not to run an account. If you keep at it, you will lose your account.
Stock your own items, don't dropship.
Under-promise on shipping and over-deliver.
Use tracking. There'd be occasional problems if you don't - these will eventually accumulate and cause you problems.

I am not dropshipping, i do stock my own items - why are you assuming im not?

How is it under promising, if anything its over promising since ive listed dispatch time s 30 days but its normally much less than that.

I listed the problems with tracking in my op and you havent answered my question

i dont get any of your answer tbh, its like you didnt read what i posted at all

Ebay give you the option for 30 days dispatch time, so if you choose that, its up to the buyer to decide if they want to buy from you or not on that basis. As far as im concerned you should be protected.

Kind of worrisome - buyers waiting 30 days may not like this...

Yes well so my tracked delivery option is essentially worthless so in the eyes of ebay is it?

Unless you have good reasons for setting your dispatch to 30 days, you should avoid it despite what eBay may allow.
Northern Ireland is part of the UK and unless something has changed, Global Shipping Programme includes the Republic of Ireland.
You should consider turning it on.
If you do, all you need to do is post your items to eBay UK Shipping Centre and the rest including tracking are taken care of under the programme. Plus, your seller performance standards are protected as long as the item arrives eBay UK Shipping Centre on time. You can use the free RM first-class tracking that comes with a business account if you wish to know when it arrives at the shipping centre.

Thats helpful thanks.
I will opt into it but i think its going to be expensive, somehow i cannot find specifically how much extra its going to cost the buyer despite searching for the last hour for a calculator.
My items will weigh 100g and be c5 envelope in size, 20mm thick.
Any idea what that would cost the buyer?

Also if i add this to all my listings will i have to ship to there when buyer buys or will i also just be able to send t straight to buyer as normal? Thanks.

No, sorry I don't have an idea but I'd guess your listed price will be taken into account.

You'd have to ship it to eBay UK Shipping Centre here in the UK.

Both PAypal and Ebay accepts online viewable tracking from commercial carrier, common ones are USPS,your country post office,DHL,Fed Exp,UPS ETC.
if your carrier is noneof the abovem, than there is room for you to enter its website and enter tracking so someone woukd go there and to tracki it,for the others, they use bots

you should go to Ebay and read up on global shipping,it will tell you how to turn it on and use it.

It sounds like you are not using the correct shipping method ,does your local post office offer a speedier delivery with tracking which would cost more?

Yes, you can but if it arrives the UK shipping centre late, that's on you.
If you use the free tracking (mentioned above) make sure it is scanned at your local Post Office. It won't count against you should it arrive late if it's been scanned into the system.
