Default Pdanet and IP address

If anyone is interested:
Pdanet (on my android phone )works great for internet connection. Every time you use it, you get a different IP address. I also use it to run my laptop. Much cheaper then most internet providers. Hope some one finds this useful....

It's a sweet app. It's usually 30 dollars a month to tether a smart phone with verizon, 30 dollars a month in addition to the data package... but that app for the droid, it's free.

Technically, tethering is not free. If you go crazy with it and download a lot of data, then verizon will know you're tethering and flag your account. Then, you will get a big surprise on your next bill. I believe in the fine print of the contract it limits you to like 5Gig of data per month, which is a lot of data. So, you should be fine tethering just to check out amazon, ebay, and paypal...just don't go crazy and start downloading HD porn videos. Also, I think tethering really isn't nearly as good for stealth as getting a dial up account. With dial up you can pick a number/ip anywhere in the country and match a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address with it. With tethering, you may get a different ip address but it's always going to be in the same general location. Opening 20 accounts all within 5 miles of each other may be asking for trouble.

I do recommend PdaNet though. It works great on my incredible.

yes you are right on the 5gb..i only use it for ebay/paypal and amazon..nothing else

tethering for stealth is fine, most people dont use dial up and they have cable modem and they change there ip like i use to,its always same location and tethering is much better..i always get within a 50 mile radius and ive checked numerous times, and ive never got my city when i checked ip,i think its perfectly fine! unless you live in a small county

The idea is.... the 30 dollars a month for the standard package is unlimited, from the phone. The phones processor couldn't do more than 5GB a month if it were downloading 24/7. When you get a laptop involved..... it changes. This is where the 5GB comes into play. You'll need to dial #data and see where you are on the data... that's the only drawback.

HOWEVER, it is unlimited. The TOS on the bill don't say anything about data only on the phone, in regards to a limit. With pda net, they have NO IDEA you're tethering. It is a way around the VZ access manager.

If you get a high bill, call customer service.
18009220204, dial 0#0# to get straight into the front of the call que. With the droid app, the only way they know you're tethering is if you tell them so.

Glad the info was of some use. I find pdanet works great. I have unlimited phone plan so usage is not a problem. There is a small one time hook up fee, and then your good to go. Costs me 20 bucks a month on T not so Mobile. Everyone have a nice day...

sweet...good idea. Keep track of your ip's since the ip's may repeat from time to time.

i have a droid phone myself...my question is does your phone store cookies when you go into accounts via tethering? or do you need to clear flash and cookies everytime?

probably a dumb ? but not familiar with using them...also when checking ebay or paypal accounts you need to clear all these before going to a new account right?

i have been using pdanet for iphone for years for free, recently, i have my iphone 2g jail broken w a custom iphone os mod. 3.13 ios4 mod 2g and it d=give you some iphone 4 os functions like tethering. I have my iphone on T-mobile with $20 unlimited data. I tether it to my laptop and it works great. I turn off the tethering connection, springboard recycles my phone like turning it off and on and the i re enable the tethering and i have a new Ip address. Even though only the last 2 numbers change.
