Paypal just denied me for a Debit Card

I just got an email that stated I was not approved for a Debit Card. It didn't tell me why but it did say I can apply again in 30 days. Have you guys ever seen this before, because I have not.

This is an account under a family member and just had the account limited due to it being 2 months new. The account was just reinstated a couple of days ago and everything is legit.

Yep, paypal will prevent the issue of the card if the account has had 'probelms'. Limited when new is a probelm. You'll need to try to keep things 'clean' for the next 30 days. Just be aware, that it is not an automatic ??? to get the debit card.

Probably because the limitation. They probably will after 30 days goes by and there are no problems.

Do they do a credit check? When the account was limited they asked for the last 4 digits of SS for a credit check. Not sure if they actually did one.

They can't do a credit check with just the last four of your SS#

Amendment to the PayPal User Agreement
Effective Date: May 11, 2010

In Section 2.4 (Credit Report Authorization) you additionally authorize PayPal to obtain your personal and/or business credit report from a credit bureau when you request certain new products, such as the PayPal Debit Card.

Was your PayPal account verified? Did it have a bank account linked to it?
Once I tried to get a Paypal debit card from my boyfriend's Paypal account and Paypal denied it as well.. But then they asked to link and verify his bank account...

Add in the fact they are now asking you for you to put in your last four digits of your SS number to even apply for the debit card.

Been known for months about needing to give details of SSN for that debit card. Still there are workarounds

Just a little info here slightly off the thread.

Did you know that according to an article in the Wall Street Journal (About a year ago)
That one of the MAIN Reasons that Paypal is resisting presure being applied to them By the U.S. goverment Trying to force them to charter as a Bank, is because as a Bank they will be regulated by State and Federal Banking regulations and that it would be ILLEGAL for them to Deny their customers any Reasonable access to their Money.

In other words they would need a Solid reason that is APPROVED by Banking Regulations to Deny you a DEBIT (NOT Credit) Card.

As a Simple Corporation they can do as they please with their Customers. (they cannot Violate your Civil rights, Which has Nothing to do with the Issue at hand here)
