Default Selling stuff for pennies

Just a curiosity. I was on Amazon looking for some DVDs to buy and there are tons of sellers selling them for prices as low as 19 cents for the ones I looked at. Tons. And they have thousands and thousands of feedback. So I know they are not trying to build up feedback...

What reason would a seller have in selling something so low? How could it be of any value? I cant imagine its worth the time to list, label, and ship a DVD for 19 cents.

I know on ebay you can always buy crap for pennies and they work a couple bucks into shipping. But the shipping is standard on Amazon. Even if they made a buck or so on shipping, it seems pointless.

Cant wrap my head around it. Building feed back is one thing. But 19 cents??

Again, just a curiosity. Any thoughts on the point? Even if seller sold 1000s the work load would be staggering for the profit, no?

A LOT of times People sell stuff at CRAZY low prices because when you buy the product it is Packed with all sorts of Other offers, sometimes from the Same seller, sometimes from other companies who Pay those Sellers to include their Offers along with their Product.

Ebay recently started a similar program where manufactures will pay ebay sellers to include their offers in the sellers shipments to their customers.

So you see those sellers are really making money on the advertizing, or Repeat Sales on their own Website, NOT The actual Product sold

They're most likely doing it for feedback and the workload for a single dvd is not staggering, you can have them prepacked in bubblwrap envelopes use paypal's multi-order shipping with your label printer, when it comes time to ship you just pull the package slap on the label and on your next trip to the store you swing by and stuff em down the mail shoot, not much work for keeping your feedback scores up, you could slap on 100 labels in 10 minutes.

That kills me on eBay. Certain niches only last for so long before people find out and start selling the product for pennies. I had a product that only me and one other guy was selling for around $25 a pop a few months ago, now it's down to $3.99!!

Yea same thing happened to me I think next time I'm going to use like 10 stealth accounts to sell the item then that way maybe I can keep the profits up I will have to see and figure it out.

Another possibility that occured to me (just guessing): There are programs you can buy or subscribe to that automatically lower your price when another seller prices their item for less than yours. This way you can be guaranteed to always have the lowest price. I wonder if, in a case where several sellers of an item subscribe to something like this, the prices automatically go down until they hit one cent?

Although a Possibility, I Sincerly doubt it. It is Almost Impossible for a Seller to have the lowest Price. There is always someone out there that has the ability to get an Unbelievable price on items at some liquidation, or get Counterfeits Whose price you can Never Beat, How about someone buying a Liquidation on Counterfeits!!

Another thing is the way Ebay Returns Searches to Potential Buyers, All Buyers DO NOT See the Same results from sellers for the same Searched item when searched for at the same Exact time. Ebay does this so that all sellers have the opportunity to sell their goods at their asking price.

Also, having the lowest Price on an item is NOT a Very good strategy for success.
If you sell an Item and make $1.00 Profit on it and sell 10 of them you earned $10.00,
If you sell the same item and profit $10.00 you need to sell 1 to make the SAME $10.00, if you sell 2 (Which is Likely in Most cases) you earn $20.00.

Sellers who INSIST on having the lowest price on an Item Make selling on Ebay that much harder for Everyone. This is the Main Reason Ebay Skews (Alters) is Search Results, to let everyone Sell their items, and you Will sell them unless you asking Price is COMPLETLY out of line (VERY HIGH)

the products are vero, not original,of cource the price is so cheaper. Also the sellers get the dvds in bulk,so the cost is less. One more important reason is the competition is too big,so all many different factors make the price cheaper. But it is good for customers if we can buy the product with cheaper price and we can benefit it .Of cource the quality must is good as well.

Shipping isn't standard on Amazon. What was the shipping cost? Since they have thousands of feedback they have merchant pro account. They can sell it for $.19 and then add extra cost for shipping since it could be whatever they want it to be.
