Default False claim against me, paypal threatened me..

Long story short, a guy made a false claim and said I never sent an item (digital item) and it was the ONLY time I never did tracking so I have no proof that I did indeed deliver the item.

Anyways, paypal has been harassing me calling nonstop so I finally answer and they said if I don't pay ($190) within 30 days they will contact a collections agency. Mind you, this is on a CLOSED paypal account of mine so I have no access to it.

Is there anyway to stop them from being able to goto a collections agency and finding me? (ie. closing bank accounts?)

Any advice!?

$190 for digital delivery? what was it, a library? Bank account should have been closed soon as you had problems. Is this real or stealth?

Man, that's a weird amount of money for digital delivery Doesnt make sense... tracking & digital

If everything is under your personal information then no. There's nothing you can do about it because they will mail you letters requesting the amount to be paid.

If it was real info you will get collections notices from NCO Financial till its paid. I am not sure if it actually will go on your credit report or not.

I sold some unused gift cards I had. They were E-gift cards so I basically sent him the codes in email and then I usually send him a letter with the codes on it as well with tracking. I've done it in the past no problem, but this was the ONLY time I didn't bother to do the tracking.

And YES, it was ALL using my real info. My paypal account is pretty dated and I've done 100s of transactions over the years. I have my bank account linked to it, along with 2 other prepaid debit cards which act as bank accounts as well.

Should I bother closing these down or should I just pay? The 2nd answer is something I don't want to do obviously..

In the Original post you said the account was Closed.

I WOULD NOT Abandon a Paypal account like you described in your last post, Open for Years, Real info, ect, ect, even if I had to pay the claim.

If all the information you state in Your last post is accurate, and the Gift Cards are Legit you should Fight it ---HARD----

What I would Try is to Gather up All The Information that you have Walk in to a Local police Station talk to a Detective give him the Whole story, get the Police Report then go to Paypal tell them that you reported the case to the Police and Provide them with the Police report.

I know someone that did Exactly this, and when Paypal got the Police Report they Released the account immediatly, I guess figuring that if the Seller got the police involved then the Buyer was attempting the Fraud, not the Seller.
