We just lost a great, old, former power-seller Ebay acct ... the PP acct (in my husband's name) associated with it is still okay, although is has a neg balance due to the junk that happened at the end ...

My question is, to the best of our knowledge, we never used his ssn to open the account, and have never, over the years, been asked for it. Would it be safe to use it to open a new PP account?

We never used my ssn either, although the suspended Ebay acct was in my name ... would it be safe to try my ssn with both our names flying around together on PP/Ebay accts?

If your question is whether you should use your SSN to open a new PP acc, the answer is no.

I am reading & re-reading & re-reading it ... i was just wondering if I could use them to set up a separate, possibly "legit" account since the ssns had not been used. Are you saying they can connect it because of the name?

You could open a new one but you have to change a few things around...go ask same ? in the subsciber forum and you will get a better answer how to use your ssn on a new account. imo
