Default eBay requesting phone verification...

I've been taking it super slow with this account, it's about a month old and I have been selling items ranging from $1.95 to $5.95. I've sold about 15 items over the past month. Today I received a MC010 message, requesting that I call to verify my identity. Is it possible to get around this, or should I just let this account go? Also, will it affect my PayPal account?

Thanks for any help

First of all do you have the Stealth Book? You need to read over it to see what you have done wrong. There are ways around the limitation, but it depends on the situation. Would also be helpful to know if you used real or bogus info as well.

OP, have your info handy infront of you when you call them back.
If it is the phone verification I think it is, it shouldn't be a problem.

If they are even still giving the "none of the above quiz" it is easy to beat.

know your name.
how old you are/date of birth
address

then if they already expect you are bogus, they put you on hold and then come back with fax in Id and utility bill.

If they don't suspect anything, you get the let me ask you a few questions gleaned from public records.

Like how many rooms in your house?
What city have you live in?
Previous are code or address
If there is a park by your house etc.

If you don't know the answer, just say none of those.

Default Correct

Just did this the other day. Listed my first item and BAM... phone verification needed.

So I called and the guy just asked my name, not even DOB.

Then I got the 3 question quiz about where I lived and what car I own.

A: NONE OF THE ABOVE

Got my account back within minutes.

And what are the odds this will affect my PayPal account?

You need to setup the call from the number you have on file (Other people correct me if i am wrong)...

I tried once on a diff U.S. account to fight off a MC010 with a call from number not on file and they slapped me with docs...

Make SURE you have all the information associated with that account in front on you when on the phone to them. Usually phone verifications are no a problem.

I do not have access to the number on my account, so should I use a pay phone or a friends cell phone even though the area code will be completely different?

If you have to call them, you can spoof the number to whatever you registered with.
If they have to call you you should be able to change the number to one you can be reached at...happens when people are traveling, etc.
If at all possible I would have the area code match the geographic area that you registered under

When someone makes an account for you, you are supposed to change the phone number to one you can use. (Tracfones are 10 bucks) That's what I always do.

I did it! My account is reinstated

I used Spoof Card dot com. It cost $4.95 for 25 minutes. I called the access # from my cell phone, then entered the # to call and the # I wanted to call from.

When I called I was asked the reason for my call. I explained that there was a message on my eBay account that my identity needed to be verified. She placed me on hold for a few minutes and then came back to ask be two questions...

1. Which of the following counties have you previously lived?
- she gave me 4 options and I said none of the those.

2. Which of the following cities have you previously lived in?
- she gave me 4 options, one of which sounded very similiar to the city I used, so I asked her to repeat it and then said none of those.

She placed me on hold again and then came back immediately to tell me my restriction had been lifted.

I made a little small talk with her while she waited for her computer and I used her name a few times.

Everyone here was sooooo helpful! Thank you so much

MC010 is very easy to get lifted.
CALL FROM ORIGINAL # on file with ebay. They will often answer the phone and address you BY YOUR NAME BEFORE you even say a word. This is very important and puts them at ease. A few easy questions as stated above and within 2 minutes you are back on selling again.
If needed you can use number spoofs.
ALSO IF NEEDED YOU CAN USE VOICE SPOOFS TOO to sound like a woman, man, etc. its easy and painless.
