Default Need some help... Please

Hi guys.
I have a little issue. Can anyone help?
I sold a gift card on craigslist and mailed it to a buyer. He paid through PayPal. I sent it via certified mail with tracking. Now he says that he got a delivery notice on his door and went to pick it up from the post office. There he was told that the card couldn't be located.
Before i mailed a gift card I asked him to email a card number via email but he said he needed the physical card.
So, is it another scam? What can I do in this case? Will paypal issue him a refund if he opens a dispute? Thanks a lot!!!

Gift cards are relatively frowned upon by paypal - and the fact that it's off of eBay - sadly, you may have problems.

That being said, work with the buyer...hopefully he's not out to scam and will get the card. I would ring him up and placate the situation on phone if possible.

Input the tracking number and be ready. Don't e-mail him the card number now unless he has been contacted physically.

Thank you, rsot. I called USPS and opened a case. Funny and st***d.
Something tells me it's a scam. Let's think... Ok, if he gets his money back through PayPal, then he can go and pick up a card at his post office....they keep a package for 15 days there.....as the paypal/dispute can't be reversed, I'll lose....

You know I am sooooo tired of all these scammers!!!

Yes I hear you but way to proactive and avoid taking it up the a**. He might be thinking like that too - tons of scammers. That's why you have to sell volume to make up for the crap =(

Hope all works out.

Gift cards have to be a nightmare. They can spend them immediately and then try all kinds of things for a refund

I would never sell them via PayPal but that's just me. Anything that can be spent or used up would attract the scum I would think...

Damn. Have you tried craigslist to see if you can sell them locally?

So much risk with PayPal

I've only sold a few gift cards, but always had good luck with them.
I've sold ones that I got for places I would never go to...usually bring in at least 90% or better of face value

Did you send it with signature confirmation? If it shows delivered and you shipped it to the address he has on Paypal then you should be fine. Just make sure you store the tracking number into the Paypal system.

Keep us posted.

Your lucky to get offered 60%. I was selling a item worth around a grand and was constantly getting $200 offers from this pain in the ass guy. So I told him to me at public mall for both our security. Then I picked the farthest mall I thought he would resonably travel to get such a great deal.
He emails me the next day about wasting almost 2 hours of his time and gas. I email him back, "now you know how it feels"

I only put up heavy objects on Craigslist because of all the lowballers and you have to the put the city you are in. He emailed he was from the next town about 25min away. Usually, I just say no thank you to their offers and ignore them or give them best price I can, but this guy was a pain in the ass. Telling me all kinds of crap like it is not worth anything because it is to heavy to ship, constant emails, etc.
