Default So it looks like I'm stuck with paypal...

Looks like I'm stuck with gaypal, because paymate keeps turning me down. I have thousands of dollars in merchandise I need to sell.

So my mother doesn't have a gaypal account nor does she sell on ebay. She's got a different address etc and I've convinced her to let me sign up for a pp account under her name. If I get limited I'll have the proper documentation (yay!). Tor will be a must for logging in both ebay and PP, and gmail is a must for the email.

Now I've read that gaypal can't verify bank account name. Is this true? If it is I can sign up with my checking account, which will be a major plus. Also, if I get limited and they ask for a bank account statement, it'll be a 5 minute PS job to change the info. Checking accounts are a dime a dozen, so if I get booted by pp, it's not much of a loss.

So, is it true that you can use a different bank account on pp without them knowing who owns it?

Dont use your moms info man. Its just an awful idea. Learn stealth. Learn how to make docs. Just dont risk your moms info

I know you mean well and wont do anything on purpose to hurt it. But it doesnt work that way. Crap can and will happen.

Just answer the question please! I don't want to go through all the BS of losing a stealth account, especially when I'm selling high value items.

You haven't bothered to read the book or you would know the answer to your very basic questions. So spoon feed off someone else. I gave you solid advice and you bark back you cant be bothered to go stealth....

So dont. And when your moms account goes down in 3 weeks, so be it

Good luck

No, eBay/PayPal cannot verify the name on a checking account.

But POD is 100% correct...

Even when people are 100% honest and their items are legitimate and they have the BEST of intentions, things can go wrong.

I'm sure your mom loves you, and does not mind you using her information.

But let's say you sell something to a buyer who is less than honest. The amount in question, hypothetically speaking, is $500. You make the sale, and later take the money out of PayPal. 60 days later the buyer files a chargeback, claiming the item you sold him was defective, or whatever. So PayPal issues the refund, and sends you an email stating that you need to make up the $500 negative balance. But you spent the $500 and don't have the money to replace it. You figure you will take care of it in a couple of weeks when you have the money. But the car breaks down, or your kids have to go to the doctor, or whatever else comes up. But you are not worried, you will take care of it, you just can't do it right now.

Then one day you get a call from your Mom demanding to know why a collection agency is calling her about a $500 unpaid bill which is now on her credit report.

Do you see where I am going with this?

A much better idea is to create a Stealth account and leave your Mom (and everyone else you know, for that matter) out of it. That way if something goes south, nobody's credit is ruined and no relationships are strained.

We see forums posts all the time where someone used a friend or relative to get back on eBay and then something happened and they don't know what to do.

Fair enough, I'll attempt a stealth account. What's a good PO box service?

Edit: actually, is CCNOW any good?

UPS store boxes. They have a REAL street address and they are cheap.

Why would Paymate turn someone down? I'm trying to set up an account now.

They didn't turn me down per se, but they keep rejecting payments. Not sure why.
Plus they are SLOW.

In case anyone cares, I sold something (outside of ebay) using GCO and I can see why ebay hates it --It's perfect.

I'm just hoping ebay gets hit with a huge antitrust suit in the future, and gaypal gets shut down by the feds for all their malpractice.

I also got my $200 back from gaypal. I called up miss india and issued a refund. The buyer then sent a check by mail. Sadly I used my primary email when I signed up for gaypal, and they have my SSN, so I can never get a legit account again. (don't want to anyway)

They are rejecting payments from customers? I wonder if there's specific cards they only accept.

Is it standard or merchant?

Standard. So far they've rejected both a Visa and an AmEX, on two different orders. One was rejected quickly, while the other was rejected in 5 days.

That's nothing, I've got 2 paymate accounts and they've been holding on to the customers payments for almost 2 weeks now with no response to my e-mails and no way to refund the customers, I think somebody is out to lunch big time.

Jesus, why would they reject a Visa payment? Maybe the customer is using a card that is over the limit or something.

Why do they push you to get a merchant account if you can accept credit cards on a standard account? I may have just sacrificed personal info unnecessarily.

IDK, but the customer said the credit card was good. Looks like I'll have to start selling on craigslist.

As for a bit about ccNow, I like it when customers accept it. Yes 5% fee is rough compared to Paypal but it's an ok backup.

FYI, Canadian customers will complain a bit abotu ccnow because their exchange rate is HORRIBLE and overcharge in Canadian funds. Bad business.

If I recall, can you not disable their currency pull-down option? Forcing USD transaction? Or do they still nail buyer with exchange? When making a USD purchase with a CAD card, it should be card that deals with conversion and fees that way, no?

Paymate are rejecting payments. I think they are notified when an account is suspended by eBay, and refuse to work with the same person on a new account, but who cares. Paymate f'n SUCKS!

To the OP, I hate when people try to lecture me when I just want a simple answer to a simple question, but don't be rude about it. POD is one of the more helpful posters here so be nice to as many members as possible. You never know who may be able to help you round here. Furthermore, everything you are asking about is in the Stealth Book. No one here is gonna hold your hand. The game is sold, not told.
