All things considered, I think I've done quite well so far. But I wonder what to do next.
I've had my main eBay and Paypal accounts since 2002 or so, and believe it or not, I have 100.0 percent positive eBay feedback. Started selling an expensive item ($100 each). Numerous Paypal hackers tried to buy my expensive items from stolen Paypal accounts. Always wanting me to ship to apartment buildings in Portland, OR --- is that where they all live?? After about three of these , Paypal limited my account, and asked for documentation and SSNs and utility bills.
This is where it gets fun. I immediately drained the Paypal account to zero dolalrs by giving out free refunds to everyone that had ordered items from me (money -- gone), and set up a new Paypal account and kept going. I'm guessing that they were now watching the eBay account and tracking where the payments went, because the very next sale I made, I got limited again.
So I went and bought some Visa gift cards, and set up another Paypal account and another new (!) eBay account, and I tried again. I think I got too enthusiastic about spending all the money from each sale immediately as soon as I got it --- because within 24 hours they would hold the funds from my outgoing purchases, and limit the Paypal account.
I'm considering running around town and opening up new checking accounts at various banks, but let me pause... ...
Notice that we've gone from a situation where I'm an honest seller with 100% positive feedback, who ships items to auction winners as promised --- --- to me acting like a criminal and forced to learn how to go stealth. Ha ha! that's Paypal for ya?! I am such an eBay "old-timer" that I remember going to the Post Office and buying money orders for $300 and mailing them off into the big wide world, hoping to receive a box from UPS in return --- and then sure enough the box would show up, from an honest seller!!
Thanks for listening.
