Default EBay Focusing on 'User Experience'

EBay Executives Plan to Focus on Improving 'User Experience' in New Year

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- EBay Inc. will focus on improving the "user experience" in 2008 in hopes of making the world's largest online auction more satisfying for its millions of users, a top executive said.

Engineers significantly updated eBay's home page earlier this year -- for the first time since 1999 -- and made its search engine faster.

Next year they'll focus on rooting out sellers with unethical or questionable business strategies -- particularly vendors who charge exorbitant fees, said John Donahoe, president of eBay Marketplaces.

So in other words, eBay doesn't care about sellers, only buyers. Expect more limitations in 2008!

This may be a welcome change. My competitors charge $10+ shipping on an auction starting at $.99. But, then again, I listed an item at $9.99 and $3.99 shipping for the same thing and got a message about possible excessive shipping based on similar items in my category.

If anyone here sells on Amazon, you know that THEY set the ship rates, so even when the postage rates went up, they did not, i.e. customer yesterday requested EXPEDITED shipping- amazon credits me like $6.49- well, if it goes in the priority flat rate box, thats over $8...??
I have had EBAY take down listings for what they call, Circumvention of fees, i.e. a $6.95 flat rate s+H on a Baseball cap.BUT, I ve already paid $15 flat rate for the same ball cap coming to me...

No, they didn't make me change the s/h. I am trying to keep myself under the radar. Maybe by charging a considerable amount less in s/h caused a red flag? But, I can't see overcharging to keep from having to pay fees. But, then again, I can't see why anyone would buy something for $.99 and then pay $10+ in shipping and think it is a great deal!

I buy stuff if shipping is overpriced if it's still a good deal shipping + price because often they're cheaper because the seller isn't paying so much ebay fees so they can sell for less.
