Unhappy Creating Pro merchant account with a VCC

Amazon has 2 different types of selling accounts. The marketplace account and the selling on amazon pro account. One issue with the marketplace account is the shipping prices. You can not set them low enough to compete with other sellers. Amazon charges 39.99 for the pro account which will let you set the shipping however you like in the categories that they don't control the shipping in. How can a marketplace account be upgraded to the pro account that allows the shipping changes and when does amazon bill you for that. I have a stealth account that was created using VCC. You can not open a pro account with the VCC because of the 39.99 charge. If you can upgrade later to this type of account, can you do it after you have funds in your amazon account to cover the charges so you never have to worry about the credit card on file? Or is there a way to open the Pro merchant account from the beginning with the VCC? The shipping is critical for what I plan to sell. If I can not adjust the shipping I will never be able to compete with the other sellers.

You can upgrade right away they don't charge the card unless they have too when the month is done. They will use the funds in your account. I've upgraded plenty of times with a vcc on a amazon account.

123 means they will deduct funds from your bank account, not your Amazon account

In the 5 months I've sold on Amazon, 2 or so being a Pro-Merchant, I have never set the shipping price. I've never noticed the option to set the shipping price. I'll pay attention at my next listing

Amazon will NOT deduct the Pro Merchant fee from your bank account. If there is money in the Amazon account, they will take it from there. Otherwise, they will use the credit card you have on file. So no VCC's if you want to be Pro Merchant and keep a zero balance on your Amazon account!

Interesting, thanks. the two months I've been a Pro Merchant member it was taken out of my bank account. I request disbursement every two-three days so maybe there was no money both times. The VCC on file is attached to my bank account

Then they managed to take it from the VCC thru the bank account. I can tell you for sure they do NOT directly debit the checking account on file for the pro merchant fee. Never happened in many years of selling.

Is it a good idea to upgrade to a Pro Merchant account? With a lot of the items I am trying to sell on Amazon I'm hitting the:"Listing against restricted items is limited to pre-approved sellers only." So I guess my question is, if I get a Pro account will I be able to list in these areas? or at least create a listing in another area for the same item? Thanks..

No. These are two separate things. Amazon charges sellers $1 per item sold, in addition to their commission. The Pro-Merchant account bypasses this fee. It also allows you to add items that are not already in their catalog.

If you want to get approved to sell in a restricted category, you will need to be approved by Amazon.

If you try to list a restricted item in a different category in order to bypass their approval process, your account will be closed. You might get away with it for a short time, but Amazon is pretty good when it comes to policing their site.
