Default Awwww Crap

My ebay account got suspended 5 months ago because of some BS. I said forget ebay all togther and just walked away. Well the other day I need to sale some stuff to cover a bill so I just used my husbands account. He has been on ebay for years but never sold anything so I listed 3 thing to sale.

Today i log into his account to see if any of the items sold and I get hit with the MC999 message. Now I feel really bad because I think I might get his account suspended. Is there anything I can do?

If you used the same ip as your banned account, thats why there were linked. Overall not a big deal buyer accounts are easy to make.

BS thread title. Dont do it again.

Depending on what the problem was when you got suspended months ago, you now have compromised this account as well. Awwww crap.

Is your husband's account a buyer's or a selling account?

His account is a buyer account, This was the first time using it to sale anything. I feel really bad because he has 100% feedback with over 2000 items purchased which is a big deal to him...Ugh

The notice I got said next time I try to sale I will have to verify the account. If its his account cant he just send in his info and everything is okay? I mean they cant ban him just because were in the same house....or can they?

I have not even told him yet, I am hoping I can fix it.

Yes they can ban him and they will if you sell again, if they haven't already perma-banned the account then I guess you got lucky. Just don't sell on that account again, buying is ok. If you want to sell go stealth and buy the guide.

If he inquires of their standard procedures, what is stated regarding "unauthorized access" to his account, he can help ensure history doesn't repeat itself. They can go thru the steps then he can inform them the person is his wife. He didn't give her permission (marriage doesn't change that) nor can he give her permission since is a legal contract that doesn't involve her. He is doing the right thing by reporting her

She has no more legal access to his accounts than his mistress or the hacker who got into their computers, or his mother etc... Hopefully Paypal would have already notified him of the suspected suspicious activity, I understood that is part of their user agreement but it's been a long time.
Just some thoughts~

You cannot fix it, you were caught compromising his account.

It is good they want to verify his account so he should follow their procedures, it is best to call in to Ebay and Paypal to explain he was not aware of the unauthorized use and thank them for verifying his identity. They are holding to their side of the agreement by protecting him

To my knowledge there are no disclaimers in user agreements that Paypal/ Ebay consider spouses an 'exception" to the unauthorized use clause.

So if it is handled to honor the user agreements and rules between the parties involved, adhere to the contract WITH intent to prevent future occurances, he should not endure any dings on his account from what I see. But they can do whatever they please unfortunately but my experience has been more effective if I appear to want to follow the contract to the T and of course, assume they do too.

The first thing I do before dealing with Amazon or Paypal is look into the rules and user agreement, then see what the situation falls under.Call and let them know I am already familiar with how they handle it, inform them I appreciate their procedures, then proceed from there in a very gracious manner to whatever else my concern is. Also how I handle it with problem customers

By just confirming they are holding to their side of the user agreement, that has always been the easiest and most effective avenue for me. Others may have ideas of how to hit it from another angle with the same results

Personally I think it would depend what they used to connect the accounts, as it does not matter if it is brother, aunt, wife or dog if they can connect the accounts then his account will be canned even after he proves who he is.

But I would give him a slap, and tell him to stop being so soft, as what difference does feedback make to a buyer?

She said from the beginning it was a buyer account.

Just don't sell again and he'll be fine. They'll let him continue to buy. If you want to sell things again, buy the Stealth Book and join us!
