Default Ebay shareholders demanding friendlier policy?

Hey all...I happened to check the eBay stock performance and noticed that the stock is about to hit yearly low. Within the last quarter their value lost 10 Billion dollars...about 25%. Their revenue growth is slowing dramatically. How long do you think before the major shareholders demand they lax on their strict, unfair policy that crimp on their revenue derived from sellers fees? I have been suspended since the 28th of November supposedly for 7 days and have been unsuccessful being reinstated since after sending in numerous documents. I did manage to get another ID going thanks to you guys. Then...I received an email from an eBay top seller account manager asking me if I needed help in getting reinstated. She asked me to send all documents requested by the trust and safety to her office fax number. That was yesterday and I am waiting for something positive to happen soon. Could eBay be reaching out to some suspended sellers trying to get them selling again? Let me know what you guys think.

Hi-my acct manager appealed my case to the Top T+S person..said they're sticking to their decision..She (Kristy) then gave me megs address-Meg@ebay.com-I did receive a reply...ignorance is no excuse..So that was it..That was in July..I have been on the Bay since it began..still have a 10 yr acct-buyer acct. All 4 of my gold + Plat PS accts gone..I was warned 7-8 times for cussing at buyers...

Well...finally got reinstated this afternoon. What started out as a 7 day suspension became 5 week suspension. Only after my account manager walked the papers over to the trust and safety department did they finally reinstate my account. Maybe the lesson to be learned in all this is if you get suspended there are people willing to help you get reinstated that you can reach out to instead of trying desperately to open another account and feeling like a criminal with all the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ names, ip address changes, etc. Thanks

You could opened up another account during this entire time. As for the losses I'm a little surprised it wasn't more. This won't hurt them one bit and it's doubtful they'll change their policies just because they lost 10 billion dollars. You got to understand that they're a monopoly. Unless someone comes along and competes with them they have no incentive to do anything. If they lose 100 billion then something might happen.

Exactly...It was kind of strange. After all the emails I sent to Trust and Safety and after I gave up on contacting my top seller manager...the top seller manager contacted me yesterday asking me if I needed help getting reinstated. After sending in documents to her office fax I was reinstated within hours. I am still very nervous about going back to business as usual.

Hey, good for you. Me personally, I have become accustomed to not paying those huge ebay fees. I don't think I could go back to the honest way.

^^^ I think we all hate paying fees. I'm surprised they didn't raise the fees this year

Ebay fess are not high compared to paying rent for the store front. I just renewed my 5 year lease for a 2200SQ/FT downtown storefront at $8700 per month (increasing @3.5% per year) plus my share of real estate taxes. Add utilities, insurance, parking fees, etc.. For me the ebay/paypal fees comes to about 15 percents of the sale item compared to about 30 percent for storefront. The profit margin is also much better in ebay. I can sit in the store all day and have 25-30 potential customers walk in the store oppose to having hundreds of visitors in my ebay store at the same time.

hepper65 you must have a prime-spot storefront in some ideal location and likely in new york city or something. $8500 a month sounds like way too much. If that was per year it would be different.

Im in Central Jersey...within Rutgers University Complex. $8500/month is in the lower end in this area. I just recently closed a store in Jersey City, much smaller space (1700s/f) because the owner wanted $11000/month. Land is very scarce in northeast.
