Default Notification of Limited Account Access??? Spoof email?

Received an email overnight...was fairly certain it was a spoof, but it did have my name in the salutation and not the usual "Dear value member" I clicked on the link and it certainly looked like the Paypal site with one glaring difference...the url was http and not https. There was also a different looking icon before the address than usually appears. Needless to say I closed the window and did nothing more.
I then logged into my account through another used account and printed invoices and mailing labels for a couple of auctions that ended over night.

If there was an issue with the account (the email said unauthorized cc usage) wouldn't there also be a notice after I logged in by not using the link...i.e. the real way?

Also, I have 2 emails associated with this Paypal which is over 10 years old and has all of my real info. Wouldn't I have received this email to each of the emails if it were real?

Yes, there would be a pink bar on the top of the screen in your account overview if your PP was limited.

what I usually do is point my mouse over the link and see what the re-direct is. It'll normally tell you if it's a legit site or not.

Check out the tnt scam. It'll give you more info and about how good these people are.

I know they are pretty clever...actually gut caught once on one of my ebay acounts, but knew immediately after I did it and logged in the normal way and was able to change my password, so no harm done on that one.

Forward the email to spoof@paypal.com, and they will take care of it, plus it covers your ass if there is anything legit about the message.

I get these every now and then, and just forward to paypal, and ignor.

You have nothing to worry about.

Some of these spoof emails are really good. I never click on an email link even when I know for a fact its real. Never ever period

Now since they got your name on there that means they have more info then your average blanket spoof email sent to a million people. This one is a direct attack. So be very careful as you have been targeted. Likely someone that has sent you payment to that paypal. Can not think of another way to get that name. Unless you also use it on the email name. In any case, this is not all random.

I would change passwords on everything attached to this just as an extra safety measure. PP, ebay and email account. Not a huge deal, but when in doubt, change

When you use gmail, and some other email accounts, your account name shows up along with the email address.

When you send mail, yes. This spoof had the name meaning at the very least they received email from dogface. Or worse they bought something to gain his info.... Never a good thing to be a target on purpose over a random situation. This is nothing to casually blow off

I have received 1000s of spoofs from ebay, paypal and banks I don't even belong to. No big deal. I get a spoof with the correct info on it, my ears perk up
