I wouldn't take that much into a PayPal account even if I worked for paypal.

There is no magic number to stay under. You can get limited for $40

Dont risk that kind of money with PayPal period. Unless not getting it for 6 months is ok

You need to understand stealth and spread sales. Welcome to the forum - I only let large amounts go through pa yp al if I don't care for that money to get potentially held for 180 days. Period.

you need to start in the low hundreds and work up slowly. It depends on what you are selling too

Why would you want to take a risk with a large amount of money using pp which we all know would love to use your 8k as "interest".

I know of a limit that got put on an account for US$8.00

Now, I'm not going to go thro' the saga again. This is a once & once only for you.

Do not think of risking a paypal account with that amount of money

What the heck are you selling for 8K? Do you realize how much in fees you would donate to Paypal on a transaction that size?

im sorry if im asking too many questions. as you can see im new to this. i just opened my paypal last week. the only reason i ask is because the first item i sold was a $3000 item. nothing froze on that sale. i was able to withdraw the money out of my checking account. now i want to sell an item for $8000 and have a buyer lined up. so u guys are saying if he deposits the 8k to my pay pal account, pay pal will freeze it immediately. i cant buy something right away thru my pay pal account. now remember, my pay pal isnt linked to ebay. this is an outside sale. me being the seller selling to an outside buyer. thanks for any responses

Yeah off ebay transactions are alot less stricter, If you managed to get 3k through already then you just might get lucky with 8k just make sure you have a working phone # attached and you could even call them first to let them know your plans and they can put a note on the acct, but keep in mind they may ask for ssn.

Absolutely 100%. Dont dare a transaction this high without letting them know and talking to them

For sure. If this is not a real account with real info then the conversation is over and you cant ever try

I still would not even try this with a real account. Period. There is nothing stopping buyer from screwing you over

You can not sell locally for the same price?

I see now, the only answer you are happy with is one that says go for it... Good luck with the 8k. But don't cry here when its ripped off or frozen....

Being on GreenBean's bad side is NOT recommended "TRUST ME I KNOW" been there done that. I bet, when she reads your post she is not going to be to pleased at all... "She does know what's going on" thats why she is MOD.

Will be waiting for the outcome

no, im happy when i see someones on the same level. i started a thread about whats the limit to sell something before getting shut down. my thread was switched to how to kill a pay pal account. and 10 or so people were joking about it. i had responses saying start with $50 transactions. $50 transactions compared to $3000, big difference my friend. different level pal.

anything below $250 OUTSIDE of eBay is fine in my experiences and opinion, and that's IF the account is set up right.
