Default Buying with a negative balance

Hi, currently have a negative balance (funds are held at the mo because of an ongoing claim) and I was wondering if I could still buy stuff with the account? Or will the money for the item become 'stuck' in the negative balance?

If your p/p account has a credit card attached to it, and you try to make a purchase, it will try and take the balance off your c/card

^^Your right and wrong. If you try to buy with a negative balance they will take the money from you card or bank account to cover the purchase and your negative balance

So if my negative balance is say £20 and the item I want to buy is £5 if I try to buy it paypal will take out £25 straight away to cover everything. Am I understanding this right, Chris?

Thanks Chris, that's exactly what I don't want to happen.
