I was looking at Bank of America and am opening a new account for Amazon and eventually paypal. The name on Amazon isn't the name that is on the account but slightly different with middle name being used. If I sign up for the ebanking online Bank of America will I run into any problems or should i head into a local branch to sign up for one? BAnk of America seems like a good one to go with. Thanks.

Welcome to the boards. I would recommend your searching for threads on this issue but to your mind at ease, the names don't have to match for many bank accounts. Bank of America is a good one to go with and many members have used these accounts for Am az on.
Don't open the account in false information though - that's ILLEGAL.

Yep. I already knew that. Was just wondering about deposits going through. Thanks. Does it matter if I open it online though, or is it better to go into the bank? Thanks.
Online is nice and quick. But going to a branch is helpful because you can create a working relationship with a staff member there.
Like, if someone from a bank 'knows' you in the flesh, that can be helpful on occasions with problems that happen on occasions sometimes . If you get my drift

what are some other US bank accounts that are good?
bank of america have horrendous fees.
The one I signed up for doesn't have any fees as long as you direct deposit 1 time a month. Amazon counts as a direct deposit. Paypal would also from what I was told.
I have used bank of america for about a year now on a stealth acount and all seems good. I think my account has a deal where if you use the debit card attached to the checking account that you get your monthly fee waived. I use my debit card all of the time, so I have not had any fees. It is also nice in the big cities like Chicago as they have atms about every block it seems.
