Default Purchasing an ebay store

I am buying a retail business that also has an ebay store. Can I take over the ebay store and still keep the previous owner's power rating

Exciting, congratulations

yes that is what you would be doing when you buy the business, the ebay store comes with it

You'd still have to change some of the details to your own such as your phone number, return address where customers return the items (In paypal that would be the home address listed) and your bank account details. You would use their login details

But know the fees are really high now because you pay a final value fee on the already padded Shipping fees so it is a good time to get out of selling on Ebay since the rates have so increased. Maybe go to Amazon, all they charge is 7 cents but don't pad the shipping rates. I use mainly first class (envelopes) so it is very expensive to be charged the first class package rate

Funny Ebay left a message on my machine, sounded like a real person with some bs that the fees are lower yet they "slipped in" you pay a final value fee on the shipping costs (making it higher).

Default Buying an ebay store

i was told by ebay that buy someone else's ebay store was a "gray" area and that the account might be cancelled. Is this true? Can't someone sell their ebay store to someone else?

If the Business that you are buying is including the Ebay store as a Toss in then maybe it is ok,,,

Understand that because of Ebay's WELL DOCUMENTED "Fickle" Nature Ebay stores are WORTHLESS,,,

Could you Imagine a Situation where you Spend good money Buying a Business like an "Ebay Store" that should produce a Profit of Lets say $5,000 a Month and Spending Like $50,000 for such a Business, Only to get Booted By Ebay the Moment you go to Change the Registered Address, Phone Number or Bank Account or Something stupid like that,,,

Unfortunately this is a VERY LIKELY Scenario,,,That is Why a Business Based on an Ebay Store is WORTHLESS,,,

If you must Buy it your Purchase agreement with the Seller should be prepared by a Lawyer who is HIGHLY Experienced in Ebay store or internet Based business sales,,,

Good Luck...

This is good advice from slapped. If your main reason for buying is simply the eBay business then think again. If it's simply a bonus and you're happy with the rest of the books then go for it. Best of luck.
