Default How did paypal catch on?

My paypal account got limited because I sold some stuff on ebay, but now I just want one to use without ebay, but even when I have deleted all cookies (yes, read the book...) and all that, I had one account that I had just created in my mothers name who lives at the same address and account got limited as I added a bank account, sent in documents, restored my account. Then I went and cleared everything again and paid for somehting with paypal with my other accoun that I use with ebay and then a few hours later that got limited, after being fine for a week with 3 transactions, and a day later my mothers account got limited. It seems like they connected the too, but I have cleared the flash cookies, normal cookies, changed IPs, different email addresses.

Now, I just had yahoo, not gmail, and had look at the email adresses without changing the Ip address, is this how they caught me? Is gmail the only safe email server?

Thanks.

You dont have to change your IP to read your emaisl,.Unless you click in the link inside of the email and log into your account,.then there is s problem.

And the PP limitation for your mothers account it seems the street address you put,
You say you use the same address in which the suspended account was,So yea thats the reason you got linked.

Correct me if i am wrong

I created a false address for my mothers but then had to change it to my normal address after I sent in documents, so this address was the same that I got suspended in a number of months ago. But it wasnt until my other account got shut down the other day that they closed to my mothers, that other one had a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address, so while my mothers and first account was the same, these two which were closed a day apart were not. And if address was a problem, wouldnt they have checked it when I sent in the documents?

hi

as rsot said - how about user accounts - did u use the same pc?
It could of been your listings/photos/products - along with the coincidence of the address & other minor things that has created in their eyes a solid link.

You have two issues here.

First, your Mother's account was linked the moment they saw the same last name and address.

Second, YES, using Yahoo IS a mistake. If you receive an email about your new account on your old IP, they will link you. Yahoo displays images automatically. When your PC tells Yahoo to retrieve the images, eBay sees the request coming from your current IP. This is called an email "beacon".

Gmail does NOT display the images, so unless you click the link to display the images, you will be OK. Yahoo has no such feature (at least not that I know of).

I do not use different pcs. And my mothers account was banned before I did any transaction on it. And now my fathers account which is on another computer which has been going for years and years has just been banned. I did go on that comp to confirm my bank account details for my mothers account, but since my old, old account got banned at start of year with same address, why only now did my fathers get banned? I din't clear the cookies and such for this one since this was before I read the book but it appears that they banned my dads one and then my mothers one, and if they had found out about my mothers one then they would have banned that first, wouldnt they?

who knows - the same kind of thing happened to me, well it still might yet as I did some really silly things before i knew anything about stealth, and i was acting out of all innocence.

Its a big problem when a household is using eb with no issues - signing up under same ip, using same pc, sharing user account/cookies/flash etc.
One goes down - they all tend to follow.

Perhaps they targeted your dad's account as it was older and in their eyes more valuable to you and carries less restrictions - more risk to EB so that one went first.

The exact address highlight for current users must be an easy flag to build into the system - it will try to cater to ppl moving and not updating their eb accounts, which is easily determined by them viewing the accounts recent activites.

As I understand it, they fall like dominoes, once one account goes. Its possible to stay selling with some linkage - but i can bet my bottom dollar that they keep a close eye on all the account by running several complicated/or relatively basic database queries.

A household can have several adults buying and as long as they dont act untowards, they are left alone - but as soon as you all become sellers, or a new account is opened once a suspension has already happened - they ASSUME you are up to no good and will always err on the side of caution.

I received an email once they spotted 3 accounts linked to my address (me and two other family members) and all had been suspended. They told me they reserve the right to suspend other accounts if they are in the same address .. doesn't make sense but they get away with it somehow.
