Exclamation Paypal refunds, how do they work?

I have a couple of accounts that get money ever so often, and I usually spend it right away. Well, what happens when I spend the money, but then the buyer demands a refund? And I used ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info? Is the buyer out of luck or does Paypal reimburse them out of their own pocket? I know the correct way to do business is to wait a couple of weeks before spending it just in case the buyer is not happy with his purchase, but I tend to have very few unsatisfied customers. Until now.

ok,pp will not refund them for you

if you dont have money in your account they tell the buyer its hard luck

they will ask you to put money in to refund the buyer

its upto you if you do or not

Really?! Wow. I am not too sure about that now. I just recently (5 mins ago) went and logged into one of my old accounts (that I don't monitor it anymore) and it appears I had a customer who filed a dispute and now my account is in negative. Not that I care since I spent the money, but if my account is in the negatives, then I'm guessing Paypal DID refund them out of their own pocket. The buyer apparently filed a INR (Item not received) and won.

If your account goes in the red, they have refunded the customer - you sell via eb? eb customer protection policy comes into play.

You can expect your pp account to get limited when it goes into the red

Yeah, I sell via eBay sometimes but this one time I sold via a forum and I guess the buyer was trying to scam me thinking I wasn't protected or whatever. The account went into red and I "think" I remember seeing an email saying that Paypal has sided with the buyer and has refunded them the money. But again, I am not too sure, that's why I am asking around. I just don't want this to happen whenever I sell on my legit account.

How long do you think it takes for Paypal to refund the buyer? Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Doesn't feel right to screw the buyer.

Well - "if rsot said otherwise he will be talking the truth, rsot speaks the truth!' is such a high standard to live up to ha - I do make mistakes...but yes, this is relatively true.

As for how long it takes to refund the buyer - fastest way that I have done this is to call up PP and have an agent do it. NOW if your account is NOT limited, I prob would not do it to stay low but I have done this for accounts that have been limited.

Keep in mind, the account is limited, its a stealth account and I honestly don't care if it stays in red. I just want the buyer to get his money back. (Bank, CC are stealth)

OP is asking if Paypal will eat the charge back. It depends on how the buyer paid. If payment from buyer was funded with CC, then they will get their money back from paypal or file chargeback with their CC company.

If through Ebay, their seller protection is supposed to pick of the tab if there is no way to recover funds from you the seller. However, it seems to be on the case by case bases and dollar amount.

If it was strickly through Paypal, they may stick him with the "we found in your favor, but there are no funds in the sellers account to refund" so basically buyer SOL.

You can speed it along by replying to case and telling paypal to grant refund. Then try to issue a refund through the dispute resolution section.
