Default Ebay not posting auctions right away?

I noticed that after i start a new seller account and post an auction, ebay doesn't post the auction right away, it gets posted a few hours later or not at all.

For example, i make a 7-day auction, i then do a search for the item a few minutes after submitting the auction. Half the time the account either gets suspended or just takes hours before being able to find it in a search.

my question is, what are they doing in those few hours? What are they searching for and how do they do it?

It takes some time.. Just be patient. Sometimes it takes up to 4 hours. It has to get indexed in Ebay servers.. It all depends on how many people is listing

eBay indexes it. Huge amount of listings are posting per 1 minute..
It's like google or like youtube. When you upload a Video to youtube, it becomes "searchable" only after 4-8 hours.

it depends on the item. if its brand name items, they can take like 10 hours to show up.
there are ways around that though

this is certainly motivation to have an auction last more than one day

Here are a couple things you can do to make sure they will be searchable, you can't control when ebay will have it posted but a couple things to look for..I heard they have been getting things up faster due to some lawsuits and stuff like that..

One is I find myself and in the listing go to the "other auctions" and make sure the number of actions are the same as how many I listed..In other words its might not be searchable right away but it will be listed right away if someone checks your other auctions..

Check for profanity in your listing. I had a listing that was listed in "my ebay" but not my "other auctions" after a few days I noticed it had a couple swear words in the description (I cut and pasted that description) I revised it and it showed up after about an hour..

On a brand new selling account, if they don't show up in an hour or 2, they are usually getting a look over by trust and safety monkey.

If it doesn't show up right away on your auction list then your listing has targeted for Termination. Change it immediately to something benign and start a new auction. You can revise it so it'll list but this might be riskier.

You may have a point. The few days before I was suspended, my listings were taking a long time to be displayed.

ALSO-- watch how CLOSE you post-- I know for me.. I am always in a hurry--so when i post like 15 auctions in 10 mins through auctiva--hitting sell similar, change up descript/photos... gets the old "abusing"... FYI..

I know for a fact I'm right. The more restrictions ebay has put in place the more you can predict their next move.
