Default Seller Protection & Combined Shipping?

I have multiple orders from the same individual. It all fits into one flat rate medium USPS Priority box. The buyer just joined eB early June 2011 (8 feedbacks so far) so I'm a bit suspect. Would I be covered under seller protection if I threw it all in one box with tracking or do I need to send it separately?

I'm worried if they do some chargeback, would I get to keep my money under seller protection?

Under seller protection, you will lose if the buyer does a chargeback. eBay has no control over that. As far as an eBay case, combining the items give you the same protection you would get sending them individually, as long as the payment was sent in one lump sum.

Also just make sure you post the tracking # to each listing so they know its all in a combined package.

Just in case it ever helps my case and it could you never know. I use the ebay notes and add things in there that were added to each pkg in case ebay ever checks that for help in deciding anything.

Did you charge the said buyer shipping x 2? Makes a big difference.

Items cost me just less than a buck and I sold it for four bucks each. I sold 2 separate multiple quantity orders at $40 each.

I subsequently received a bunch more orders this weekend. The listing was about to end, so maybe this newb was trying to order a bunch before the listing ended. I thought I hit the jackpot. :D

I shipped the first two orders (about $80 worth -- $20 cost to me) but then started thinking that it's getting a bit unusual. I was this close (pinching) to sending out the monster order in one Priority Mail flat rate box yesterday morning. Looked up their buyer history and noticed purchases of other similar products. Nothing too out of the ordinary. Looked up the address on Google, noticed it was a mobile home park which was odd. Asians usually don't live in mobile homes. Also Googled the person's name, but the name was too common.

Then, I finally got the Paypal email not to send out my product until they complete their investigation for buyer suspicious activity.

BTW, this is a legit product and I do have receipts.

Per their site:

PayPal transactions:
Chargebacks for item not received claims are covered by PayPal Seller Protection when the seller has appropriate delivery confirmation. We will close any eBay or PayPal disputes that were filed along with the chargeback. When appropriate, PayPal will fight chargebacks filed after a dispute closes.

Free shipping. Charging shipping is a headache when people try to combine orders so I just have free shipping across the board.

Ah ok free shipping - yeah bundle it up and tell the buyer that you are doing so. If it's not some "nincompoop" (however you spell it), he will more than happy to comply.

Update: Paypal released and gave me funds for the 2 orders sent with tracking. Wondering if I should just send the rest with tracking number. Risk might be worth the reward of seller protection and keeping the money. Options in the resolution center.

How would you like to resolve this issue?
  • I have not shipped the item and I would like to refund the payment.
  • I can provide proof that the item was shipped through an approved shipper to the address on the Transaction Details page.
  • I have refunded the payment for this transaction.
  • None of these apply to me.
One of 8 remaining open case emails received from Paypal...

--------------
Transaction date: Jun XX, 2011
Transaction amount: $XX.XX USD
Your transaction ID: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Case number: PP-XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX

Please help us find out whether the sender authorized this transaction by
providing us with information by X/X/2011.

To provide your information, log in to your PayPal account and click the
Resolution Center tab.

If you do not respond by X/X/2011, this case will be closed and the funds
will be reversed.

We advise you not to ship any items to the buyer until we find out whether
this transaction was authorized.

Thank you for your cooperation.
