Cool Paypal payment reversal by Bank of buyer?

Hi, a week ago I sold an Ebay item and yesterday I got a message from paypal that the payment has been held since the buyers bank has claimed it as being "unauthorized".

I contacted the buyer, he told me that his paypal account was compromised a few days ago and many big transactions were done on it, although what he purchased from me was a legitimate transaction, so he has asked his bank to take charge and charge-back all the payments he had made.

Now he tells me that he will be making a new paypal account in a few days and then send me the payment though that account.

I currently have a dispute in my paypal account against this transaction and I have the buyers email admitting he has received the E-Product he paid for. Paypal wants to hear my side of the story and possibly some evidence.

So could you guys tell me how I should tackle this issue?

Thanks.

Has paypal already refunded the money or are they holding it to either release it to me or the bank/buyer? I ask because if they have already refunded then no point in crying over spilled milk.

Secondly, if I mention to them that I sold the sender an E-Product that too through Ebay, wouldn't that mess up my Paypal account and possibly Ebay account as well?

Well Paypal informed me that the payment is being "Held" and they want to hear from me. So it means that they still have the funds right?

What would I be joking about?

How much do you value your TRS? Do the right thing and stop bothering us over a couple of bucks for an e-crap. You don't have a tracking number, you have no case.

You should also review eB's policy on digitally delivered goods or kiss your TRS goodbye.

Thanks for being so blunt guys. But isn't the point of these forums to discuss things which you have doubts about and seek help/guidance from more knowledgeable and experienced users.

Last time I checked hardly anyone on these forums follows all the rules and policies set by paypal/ebay. So why giving me such harsh replies?

If you think we have been harsh on you then I apologise but the simple fact is the game is getting harder to play every day and compared to the nightmares we see on here your comments about Ebooks were/are seen as a wind up or a joke.

Give the money back and resolve the issue. You can then move on and earn more money.

Thanks, the buyer has sent payment from a different Paypal account. So will give this information to Paypal and ask them to refund the money.

By the way when I went to the "Take Action" page through this Refund Ticket, it gave me three options:

1) Provide proof that the buyer has received the product
2) Provide proof that you have refunded the money
3) Take liability of this report (which probably means: yes I'm guilty refund him)

So in my case where apparently the Buyer/Bank has claimed an un-authorized payment if I want to refund him because this was a misunderstanding, if I select option three, would that have any effect on my account? I mean will Paypal give me a strike or note my account with something stupid/bad?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, thanks for the reply, like I said would that have an effect on my Paypal account in terms that Paypal give me a strike or note my account with some stupid remarks or anything which would make it a high risk for limitation? My account is verified and no wrong info has been used. It is also a 5 year old account.

It should certainly be strong enough to take that hit. Be pro-active "I have an unhappy customer and so I want to make them happy"

Like GT said, be super nice and close the case as quickly as possible.

And yes, I do have experience with this on 2 accounts and they are still Top Rated Sellers.

*** Special note for ALL cases in general: Whenever possible, never make Pa yP al decide what to do with the case. Take initiative on your part as the seller and do whatever it takes to close the case immediately.
