Default July 1st 2011, the NEW 21 Day Hold Policy

Ok so I posted this a few months ago when I initially received the email, but I just wanted to follow up to let everyone know about this. On midnight July 1st my Paypal account went back to the 21 day old on ALL transactions.

Now this is not an Ebay hold, this is through Paypal. On the very top of my Paypal account in a Red Box it says "From now on, money you receive will be temporarily held in a pending balance. To learn more, please read our Payment Holds policy." My ebay account was in good standing for the most part, I had a feedback of around 98%, with around 115 positive feedbacks. I had a few disputes opened over the years and I did have some DSR's for slow shipping time but I work a full time job and if I'm out of town I can't exactly ship the day after sometimes.

I do not believe that this account will ever go back to the non 21 day hold. In the fine print it says that sometimes the holds will be removed if seller DSR's are improved and whatnot but I don't really buy that. For me, I just sold off the rest of my high priced items, drained the paypal and will walk away to start anew here soon. I was getting close to the 200 transaction mark as well, and I don't want to mess with getting limited for tax purposes. That Ebay account was over a year old. I don't mind the 21 day hold for new buyers, or for limited feedback sellers.

But for someone like me it infuriated me that I had been a good seller for over 15 months, paid thousands in Ebay fees, and they still didn't all of a sudden "trust" me because of a couple of low DSR ratings on shipping time? I have lost thousands to scammers before, so I do not feel comfortable shipping any high priced item without actually having the money first.

I dunno how you guys feel about it but I am going to start over and see if I can document how long the 21 day hold stays on and what I have to do to get it removed with a new account.

This is not hard. Sell cheap a s s items and raise DSR, then the hold removes itself on your next evaluation.

Use First Class or Priority Mail only with USPS. First class is all you need for small items.

I have experienced this many, many times when resurrecting old accounts. No reason to just throw away a good account. Sounds lazy and laziness will just ensure this happens again on your next account.

It is a total pain it's like going to the eastside of town but traveling all the way around the globe heading west to get there.

Yes check out the 10 percent that ebay is going to charge all sellers starting Mid-July on their shipping FEE'S ie: I pay thru ebay/p.p. $5 to ship an item USPS and I will pay a total of $5.50 "what"

Ebag and Scumpals are real low-lifes businesses

That would explain all the new "shipping discounts" they introduced this year. Making more room for this new policy that will ensure more profit on their end.

i got this same thing and i have 100% positive feedback. DSRs are all 5.0. I believe they are randomly doing this, and should pass with no issues.

If you open up a new Paypal your going to get hit with it, all and I mean all accounts are getting hit with this. Get used to it and make a **** load of new accounts and just work it so you have money moving at a good rate so it doesnt effect your business. I agree it doesnt even pay to age and work to build up an account anymore since your going to get this anyway or hit 200 items sold etc.. just keep it moving...But what really is killing me is the selling limits.

Default Fight Back

The only way tot stop this rip-off, is for sellers to refuse to ship until AFTER all funds are available.

"Item will be shipped after PayPal clears payment". I've see this on several listings.

The other way, is to simply start to take credit cards directly.

PayPal need us as much as we need them.

So from what I understand from reading this there is no way of ever getting around this? Paypal have forced me to go into my overdraft with out knowing due to me having insufficinet funds in my paypal and so money having to be taken from my bank account, which had nothing in!

How can anyone survive selling on ebay with this?!

I got same problem recently! They said I did not sell too much before( I am part seller only) When I buy many things and pay through paypal. They start to hold all my recent payment/pending payment until buyer replied they got it / leave me feedback. Payment will give me back ASAP.(Paypal said). I felt angry about that since and it should not fair for me! Besides, I got "MC999 eBay Listing Removed: Trademark Violation" today. This removed auction is a brand name item but I sold this brand before and buyer also left me +ve feedback also. This is licensed released item and not ⊗⊗⊗⊗! I really don't know what happened. Is that MC999 is serious warning or minor version. Please advise. Tks!
