Default Sent to collections by PayPal..

PayPal sent me to collections over 22 bucks, which sucks I guess. They "sent" me to collections over six months ago, which led to numerous phone calls and letters. I checked my credit report though, and it didn't show up on here? PayPal has my social security by the way, just curious why nothing showed?

Only time will tell - don't know why it has not shown up but for 22 bux in your real name (i am assuming) is it really worth it to find out?

Yeah, kind of a joke on you for messing your credit up over $22 isnt it??

I would pay it before it does go to your credit report. More than likely its on one of the reports.

If you have a clean credit report this will hurt your report big time.

Pay it and make sure you get a receipt just in case.

Others have been known to pay and not get and keep the receipt and another collector comes along to try to collect on it.

To answer your question to help you try to understand the silliness of the situation I thought I'd add this.

That debt is probably still owned by paypal. They have their 'own' collections agency. They will 'hold' that debt for a specific period. More than possible, they will try again to get the monies.

Then they will 'sell' that debt to companies called debt buyers.(99% sure that's the USA term). Now these are the nasties. They will mark your credit file.

So $22 and a damaged credit rating is not good. Doesnt matter how horrible paypal are. (And we know they are). It matters more that you (and anyone) can keep their credit in good standing.

Yes Gb!

In most cases they are called junk debt buyers. They buy up debts that normally cannot be collected for pennies on the dollar and apply their unlawful scare tactics, harassment etc to get the money.

Op the other thing is if a JDB does not collect they will sell it off to another JDB and yet another negative shows up on your report for the same 22.00 bill.

Collectors these days are a rough bunch. Many have some odd backgrounds and are taught to be mean, aggressive, nasty. Whatever it takes to get the money.

$22 does not seem worth the annoyance of phone calls, letters, and all the other bull**** that come along with it. Not to mention it might affect your credit down the road, even though it isnt showing up now.

I'm sure I;m going to regret posting this but, what the heck, I've had a few vodkas.

Many many years ago, when I first moved in with the man who is now my husband, a debt collector called at the farm for outstanding something or other.

My man said to him "You've come in like a lion but you will leave here like a lamb" - he picked up a 5 gallon container of sheep dip and started sloshing it all over the guys car. He said to the bailiff "If you're not gone by the time I get my cigarette lighter out of my pocket you've got an eleven mile walk into town"

The guy pulled his mobile out - and realised he couldn't get a signal!!

He turned a funny shade of grey jumped in his car and roared away.

We never heard a thing about it.!!

I think that was the day I fell in love
