i sell alot of high priced items on ebay usually avg selling price is 200. i have 100% positive feedback, my problem is over the last week ive gotten alot of users with 0 feedback and signed up within a couple days of the auction start bidding on my items and trying to become the high bidder. i started canceling their bids and telling them to contact me, they dont even reply to my messages. i even state 'PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE YOU BID IF YOU HAVE 0 FEEDBACK OR JUST SIGNED UP TO EBAY.' in bold in the auction and they still keep bidding what else can i do to keep these types of scammers at bay as a last resort i also blocked all users with no paypal account from bidding on my auctions need some more ideas on what else i can do, im trying as best as i can to keep from getting scammed. believe thats what these guys are up to it may even be a competiter. one of them already won an auction and never paid this was 2 days ago never even replies to my emails
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!
no i believe the options -1 and lower no longer is is 3 or lower like it usta bee so you just have to live with it and you can always refuse to ship to them saying they did not meet your bidding criteria you had in your listing.
yea it says block bidders with feedback of -1 but seeing as though you cant even give buyers bad feedback anymore why do they even have that option there lol
Yeah I see that a lot too. Its hard to do buy it now auctions now too because there are scammers sabataging those. Best defense eBay created was the option to have them pay up front when choosing to buy it now.
i'm just gonna continue to monitor my auctions like a hawk canceling their bids hopefully they will stop i also added must have paypal account to bid that wont work either
i dunno if its the same person doing this on my auctions or a just bad luck or a team of scammers or what lol ive blocked several people in the last couple hours who are the high bidder on 5 high priced items atleast with 0 feedback or 1 feedback that the seller left saying 'bidder doesnt pay' lol
Go into My EBAY then click My account, then pick site preferences, then about the 3rd one down is shipping preferences. Click the box that requires a telephone number for anyone who buys from you. I am not sure if all accounts have this feature though. hopefully this will help

No, not at all.
In my experience, the only problem is the buyers are not aware of the requirement until after they hit the confirm bid button. So it generally doesn't deter them
One Buyer sent me a message immediately asking about why she had to provide a phone number and guess what... that is the exact one buyer out of all my buyers who left a neg. BUT because of her message, I was able to be prepared ahead and the neg was removed. Two buyers i phoned already and they toned down

Why would the buyer leave a negative for just needing a number? Was she one of those that likes to keep the product or what?

Her neg was stating that the item I sent had reminents of something. She has a history of scamming, two other Sellers contacted me about her thieving after I left truthful feedback. her fb shows she leaves alot of negs so it wasn't about the phone number
Adding this to listing "I have a policy of contacting all new Ebayers via phone so please be prepared to provide a phone number during the checkout process" this may deter scammers
Why can't you just do a buy it now with immediate payment required. They will have to actually pay you. Then if they are 0 feedback give them a call to confirm.
