Default Holiday season is coming - do I sell or not?

Hello, I have a certain issue with christmas season... people buy a lot but shipping is also much slower. Last christmas a package which was sent via EMS to Ireland took 60 days to arrive.

What would you recommend this time? Do I just want to sit out the christmas season to avoid the slow shipping or will it have no effect?

If you want to sit it out, you'll have to wait all the way until the beginning of Feburary or so until the services can be restored to proper speeds. Just sell as usual, but place a disclaimer of some sort.

One thing not in favor last year was the terrible weather especially in Northern Europe.

It's more than likely going to happen this year as well.

Can you consider having a cut off time for deliveries to certain countries?

What are your other options to send the items? Is a more expensive alternative available?

These are only my thoughts as I'm not sure of your business plan.

We put one account on vacation after 10th December. At least that spared too much damage with DSRs.
Whatever method, ensure your listing SCREAMS the delivery details. Make a point to stress to buyers of delays before glitches happen.

Dont think it is not going to happen to you because yours will be the account caught, if you get my drift. Be ready if you list & sell.

There is A LOT to be said for sitting OUT the Holiday Season, Even thought there are MANY More Buyers there are also MANY,MANY more sellers, I see it EVERY year,,,A LOT of People sell online to make "A Few Extra Bucks for the Holiday Season"

With certain Items you simply do Better with them the rest of the Year instead of the "Holiday" Season

Not a guarantee to work.

ebay UK still killed accounts whose DSRs were dinged for shipping even where sellers had the disclaimer.

There was a professed amnesty that ebay did not honor.

For a shaky account, I would not risk a disclaimer.

Agreed. Believe it or not, I could care less about holiday season. It's nothing but complaints, scams, delays, etc. Major headaches.
