Civil Action - need your advice
Hello.
For the last 3 month, I have been selling a specific item, which only now I discovered to be f a k e.
3 month ago I found out that a large wholesaler, which I known for a long time before, is selling this item for a good price.
I contacted them and they said the item is authentic, but comes without warranty.
I have decided to order one unit to test. The item came in a perfect condition, and I was 100% sure it's original. So I started selling it on both EB and iOffer. I was drop shipping them, never had physical stock except of the one item I ordered for testing.
I never had the listing removed, on both website. All buyers left positive feedback etc.
Today, I got a strange email. It is a copy of a lawsuit, between the original company of this item and my supplier.
Then I understand something went really wrong. I went to my supplier's website, and found out the specific item it not for sale anymore.
I contacted them, they replied very fast, and said "I shouldn't worry". They won't reply to the fact that they lied to me in the first place.
Then I thought why did I get the email and not them? I opened the file attached to the email, and found out that they have collected email addresses of people who were drop shipping the item from this supplier, and sent the email to all of them.
My name does not appear in the "defendants" section, but the document says that since they have been unable to locate the true identity of my supplier, they are sending the email to any address they found.
Here I need your advice. I have cancelled all recent item I have sold and refunded. What else can I do? I do not want to be held responsible for my supplier's false claims.
Also I have to mention, my listing of this item was not removed at all. I have ended it myself.
