Question MC008 - Your eBay account is restricted. Help?!

Hey Guy & Girls,

Firstly a big thanks to all those who contribute to this forum...without you I'm sure many of us eBay sellers would be left in the dark!

Here is my story... I've been running a store on eBay for over 2 years now, I am a Bronze Powerseller (99.8% Positive Feedback, Over 2900 ratings) on eBay Australia. I burn and print DVDs of COPYRIGHT FREE and/or PUBLIC DOMAIN films. In the past I did list a couple of films which caused me to get a few Vero Copyright Infringements. I have since removed these titles and only concentrate on material that is completely 'free to copy'.

On the 30th of December I received an email from ebay titled "MC008 Your eBay account is restricted" here it what it said:

"We've restricted your eBay account because we're concerned about some recent account activity. We've taken this precaution to protect our members. However, you can appeal this restriction. Once we review your appeal, if we're confident that this activity doesn't put our members at risk, we'll be happy to reinstate your account. To appeal this restriction, reply to this message. For more information about how to appeal a restriction, please go to:
http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/accoun...-accounts.html. We know this isn't good news, but our top priority is keeping our members safe.
Thanks, eBay"

That seemed to come out of nowhere! The 'recent' account activity they referenced was mostly from over a year ago and I have since improved. So I replied to the message and stated my case to only receive an email back saying that they reviewed my account and had the following concerns:
  • Past History of Copyright Violations
  • Feedback questioning authenticity of items sold
  • Members have expressed concerns about the authenticity of items
So it appears my restriction on selling will stick for the meantime (I can still buy) but I'm wondering if I improve my 'Seller Dashboard' ratings will the restriction be lifted? I have noticed that I have had 1 negative feedback and 1 Paypal Item Not Received case in the past month which might be what tipped it all over the edge resulting in the restriction.

Is it true that this is an automated system that works on 30 day buyer ratings?

If I improve my Buyer Satisfaction from 'Poor' to 'Good' will my selling priviledges be reinstated because I'm no longer a safety threat to eBay?

Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated. I just don't know whether to leave ebay...start again with stealth accounts...or work on getting my ratings as good as possible and submitting another appeal in a month or so?!

Welcome to the forum. I hear your woes and I can offer you this nugget of my experience.

One account got hit with same thing but I was not sellnig digital stuff or burned DVDs.

I did chat with live help asking if my account was done.

Agent said that suspension was not permanent.

30 days later I got an e-mail stating that because my ratings had gone up (15 to 1 positive to neg feedback), my selling privileges were being reinstated.

There you have it - there's hope - ask your deadbeat feedbackers to leave you feedback pronto.

Hey!

Thanks for the info mate :D Yeah from what I've read on these forums it seems like it is an automated process that depends on all of your buyer feedback, history, paypal disputes and everything on a 30 day period. So hopefully within 30 days the negative feedback will be gone and the paypal dispute will have passed and they reinstate the selling privilidges!

Seems bizarre to stop a Powerseller with 99% feedback because of ONE negative feedback and ONE Paypal Dispute in a month! But I guess with my previous history that's all I need for the autobots to target me.

I will definately let you guys know how it goes! Really aprpeciate the feedback...I was freaking out for a bit thinking I was screwed but it seems there's quite a few avenues to getting back up and running.

Hi there,

I wanted to follow up on your post, I just received the same "MC008 Your eBay account is restricted" notification from Ebay and needless to say I am devastated. Please let me know if your account was reinstated and what steps did you follow to get it back at 100%.

Your help is appreciated.

the majority of cases opened against you as well as provide tracking for

Sounds like your DSR is the reason you got limited and now banned. You can start again using stealth method, however your business practice is not up to par with eb requirements and its too high a risk for them to accept. You need to re-evaluate how you do business and then possibly do it again.

Your a gonner. Make another account and make sure buyers don't open cases against you by contacting them before they open one up.

dsr's are a joke. you can put down that your auctions wont ship for a week after the auction ends and then they will ship out snail mail. it doesnt matter tho, you can still get a 1 for shipping time just because the buyer is to stupid to read or comprehend what they are reading
