There are tons of different online businesses, eBay is just one way in the myriad of everything else you can do. For selling items and having auctions though I would have to say yes. Amazon is good if not better from what I hear, aside from those two what else is there?

You can open a business and be earning profit within a week - yes there are lots of hurdles and hoops to jump through but realistically where else, apart from 'The River', can you do that and have a ready market to pitch to?

Going to depend on what you sell.

As much chance as anyone.

I agree, we hate ebay but we still trying to get stealth accounts because it makes profit. Deff start your business with eBay or Amazon, both are really good.

If someone came up with a better site than Ebay does anyone seriously think that eBay would just say "oh well, that's us finished"?

No, they would change their modus operandi or, much more likely, they would buy them out.

It's what we have to deal with so deal with it

i like the easy traffic on ebay.

but to be honest,i really hate the way e bay treat its sellers. to me, ebay is like a kid who is not ready to grow up, while amazon is a grown-up where i can make much more money than e bay.

Traffic is good, but it takes alot of work and I would suggest building up a website also along with a good standing ebay account to bring in customers.
