Is it ok to use gmail imap feature for ebay to check my email on a mobile phone such as the iphone?

Also I know gmail has ability to link accnts meaning I can have one primary account to recieve and send emails from multiple email addresses, but each email is sepearte I just use one email to manage it all.

if i did this email feature with my fried gmail acct would that pose as any risk?

Yes and works well. Especially after you work out how to make the filters & set up correctly.
