Gamefreak, you in Compton? jk bro. I think you can live in So. Cal on 65k a year. My wife makes 60k plus my 20k a year is enough. Although the school loan I get does help more with my gas since gas in L.A. is up the wazuu.

Pfft you guys are the ones joking. I could live super comfortable in LA or San Diego with $35k a year easy and I have. This is with going out every weekend and having all the bud you can smoke.

you get accustomed to what you make, when your lifestyle goes up you need more to keep it going...

Also are we talking individually or couple, you may make 80k but who you live with may make more or less or nothing and that has a bearing on your lifestyle and what you can afford jointly.....

With white collar jobs, it depends on your job title and the company you work for. It also matters what state you live in. Some states, the jobs have average higher salary cuz of higher expense of life.

I was making $53-$62 from 2005 to 2008 living in Vegas working at a investment bank

It really depends where you are in life (age), your life style, and major life purchases (college, car, house). Personally I could live off of 50k or 200k a year and live close to the same lifestyle. I am around 150k a year after the tax man rapes me. Keep in mind that consistency in life is key. 90% of NBA players go bankrupt, because they buy all these luxury things, but can not be constant financially, and the shiz hits the fan before they know it.

We all live outside our means. Americans especially are very spoiled. When the power goes out for a day or so you'll see how spoiled we really are. 50k a year should be enough for anyone. Even lower should be enough too. We all just want it all though.

Its nice to hear everybody's thoughts. I know it doesn't matter 40k or 80k you make, because it all depends on the life style you have or you want If we don't have too much desires, then, even just 25k should do, but it's hard for a woman who likes to spend a lot like me so, I got to lower that thought!

Depends on what you have, if you already have everything you need and want, cars, clothes etc. all you need from there is to pay the bills and keep plenty of cash in your pocket. I don't even keep track of what I make, just make enough to get the things I want and keep plenty of cash on hand, you don't need more than that unless you're the insecure type trying to live up to somebodies ⊗⊗⊗⊗ little idea of a status symbol.

There is not set amount.

Everyone can live on different amounts in different parts of the country.

In most towns in the midwest you can live extremely good on 50k.

Then add in some of the same midwest towns that are full of life and things to do and 50k wont get you anything but frozen dinners because of the cost of living.

Hilton Head SC for instance, if you cannot afford a 300k house then you would be living in the slums outside of the city.

Drive 45 minutes away from Hilton Head and you can buy a decent house on 50k per year and do well.

I know someone who actually lived in Vegas for a while and said he could not make it there on 75k per year. He said he struggled to make ends meet.

Then I know a a 26 year old who lives in a beach town and makes 50k per year and lives it up.

Hard to compare because no one has the same lifestyle, wants, needs etc.

90% of NBA players? I don't agree with that, I think you meant 90% of NFL players.
