Be nice to the cat! Given the normal weight of a cat, it would be the equivalent of a human male weighing more than 525 lbs. That CANNOT feel good! Forget looks, I'm talking physically.

It is very unusual for cats to weigh that much. Even when presented with unlimited food, cats generally do not overeat. Genetics must be at work here.

My prayers are with you, Meow. I truly hope you get adopted by a wonderful human and find your forever home, filled with love! Also that you lose some weight so that you can feel better. And if anyone makes fun of you or gives you a hard time, just call for Jeffy and I'll kick the *^&%! out of them!

That is about twice what they should weigh. The equivalent adult male would weigh in at 350 lbs. So, yeah, that is kinda on the large side.

My cat got fat while he stayed with me, while the folks were away in Arizona for the winter. Doubled his weight (!), I didn't really notice because he doesn't like to be picked up. Now he's on a special, non-tasty diet and some other meds. Being overweight is no picnic for cats!

Thats my cat's current weight. He does nothing but sleep. And my parents feed it shrimp daily. Maybe thats why hes getting fat.

Cats sleep 16 hours per day. That is normal. It sounds like you should take him to a vet. They can make a plan to help him to lose weight gradually. It is just like with humans. The 350 lb man didn't get that way in 6 months, it likely took years. And safe weight loss to the goal weight will not happen in 6 months either. These things take time. The worst thing anyone can do is crash dieting. Those never work. Lifestyle changes work.

In the cat world, that's morbidly obese.

Actually it is CRUEL of any miserable mof who owns a cat to allow that type of weight on the poor cat.

The cat's life is plain shortened by each OUNCE it is overweight.

I'm with Jeffy.

Seriously I would go postal on a human doing that to a cat.

Slightly off topic but not one of my animals is above their ideal weight.
Animals overeat because dumb humans think it 'cute' to feed them too much.Idiots

Don't feel bad. Just ask your vet for some advice.

Again, there could be something underlying this, as cats generally don't overeat. Your vet will know for sure.

Why is it that many people never think about what they eat and still maintain a normal weight, while others have to struggle their whole lives?

Maybe it is genetic, maybe it is the shrimp, maybe it is a combination of the two. Blaming yourself won't solve anything. Just get some help.

You would agree with me that a cat needs its legs for mobility?

If a cat severly damages its knee when it jumps or moves around the Vet might say he will operate on the cat to fix the problem. (Well he really would not because the cat is a high risk for surgery). The LoopHole parents can expect to pay anything from US$1500 to US$3000 & higher to help heal the cat. About half a semester tution costs.
Read below about the very serious problems
