Default Ebay Now Insisting on Back-up Funds

Opened a "tester" ebay account where I sort-of play w/VeRO items, etc. Only have 8 or 9 items listed and when I went to add just one more listing, I was stopped by the Ebay Fee Police

I was told that I need to add either my PP account or bank info. for seller's fees. I opened this account w/a Vanilla/Visa.

Just thought I would share...first time that has happened to me.

Sometimes cards work and other times they don't. But what I found a long time ago, just because it isn't working for you doesn't mean it's not working for someone else. There are very few cards that aren't working for everyone. Just keep trying and you'll get through.

I have found that to bid on a "paypal account required' listing that it used to be a pain to get ebay to link. But now I can make a paypal account, not even bother verifying the email confirmation (which paypal sometimes takes hours to send anyway) and then I can link it to my ebay account. Then poof, problem solved.

So try adding a paypal account that's linked and never use the paypal account. Get it first on your ebay email address and if it works, then change your paypal email address before listings end so nobody can shove a non-unclaimed paypal payment in.

Jonas, it seems that now they require you to add a verified paypal account. That's the issue I had anyway.

Add banking info

Not this time!! Being that this account is a "tester" account, they can hang-upside down before they get my bank info. Vanilla/Vista went through with no issues for seller's fees & just for the record used an Amex. gift card for another account/seller's fees.

I was just taken-back that before I could list/sell more than 10 items, they requested fund back-up.

I wonder how they will do that for international users, since the pay-fees-by-bank option is only available for US accounts.

Does ebay check the bank account if it's real? There was something in a year old aspkin guide where sometimes ebay would ask for both but wouldn't check the bank account till they charge it.

I don't think eBay is doing it, but they can if they wanted to verify the account was real or not instantly. I see a lot of companies doing that now.

Guys. They base their risk level on how many freaks try to scam them from that particular IP batch. The more chemistry you do the worst its going to get.

Try this for a change. Create a new account like you had before. But now, see if you can list in different categories. If you doing VeRO, see if you can sell porno or something you have never sold before. Otherwise, get a cantena and use wireless for a new IP out of a brand new IP pool.

Probably not the account, but the routing number, my mistake. Just make sure your routing number is real if you're going the '⊗⊗⊗⊗' route. Though you can get an ING account in less then 5 minutes, and just about unlimited savings accounts which you can use with Paypal.
