Default Digital Delivery - R.I.P. - No Longer Allowed on EBAY

Ebay will effectively put an "end" to digital delivery on March 31.

Attention Seller!
"Please note that all listings that contain content that can be digitally downloaded or transferred must be listed in the Classified Ad Format only. As of March 31st, all listings for digital items not in the classified ad format will be considered a policy violation."

eBay killed hundreds, if not thousands of businesses by banning digital items. It's like a biggest mass-suspension. I had such a business too and can tell you that there was no warning, nothing. On 03/24 they put an announcement on their website and in 11 hours I was already not able to list anything digital.

Indeed, by doing this eBay showed how cheaply they value their sellers. They do not care that for hundreds of people ebooks might have been the only or the main source of income and that at least a 1 month warning would've been appropriate. This event just made me to realize better than ever how ridiculous it is to rely on eBay because, truly, it's like having sex with a $5 street hooker without a condom. It's fun while it lasts but it won't work forever.

I think we should expect to see more news like this now after the first for the last 10 years eBay CEO change, so I would recommend anyone for whom eBay is still the main source if income to move on to creating your own website, starting to learn about traffic generation, SEO etc. At the very least, you will keep eggs in different baskets as eBay doesn't deserve any trust, that's for sure.

Ok, so it doesn't really mean we can't get feedback fast. For as long as one can list for 1 cent, it's fine. Just say it's ebook on CD.

How does this work?

Price is 1 cent, ebook on CD, shipping is 8.99 world wide.

A good fellow comes along, bids, leaves feedback, receives feedback.

A troll vigulantee comes in, he has to pay, $9.. And you can ship it to him.

Default Several alternatives to digital delivery - FREE FEEDBACK

Since eBay is now banning digital delivery, it means no 1 cent eBooks. But I have several ideas around this, to allow fast free feedback.

Also, post your ideas, and comment on my ideas.

If you are in the habit of selling 1 cent items, consider some of these.

---------------------------------------
IDEA 1
---------------------------------------

1 CENT INFORMATION, NOT E-BOOK

You are buying information *blah blah blah*. Once you pay please call or e-mail us, we will tell you how to get it.

---------------------------------------
IDEA 2
---------------------------------------

1 CENT EBOOK ON CD-ROM, NOT DIGITAL

You are buying an eBook I made, delivered right to your door on CD-ROM.

S&H is $8.99.. We will leave you feedback as soon as you will leave us feedback. All non paying bidders don't get a CD-ROM.

For shipping option you put see listing description. Shipping fee is only mentioned in listing description. Also, you never answer questions from buyers about this listing.

AND, if someone bought it, has a question, check them out. Have they bough 1 cent items before? If not, probably a vigulante troll. Wait 10 days and file unpaid item dispute. Then leave him a neg. People asking questions is usually sign of trouble. I always check out those who ask questions.

--------------------------------------
IDEA 3
--------------------------------------

Create 25 ⊗⊗⊗⊗ accounts. All you doing on these is selling something for whatever amount (cheap so fees a low). You can use same 1 gift card on all of these account. Allows you to give yourself 25 feedbacks to lift some limits, and it's pretty cheap.

LOL! i don't think having unprotected sex, or any sex for that matter, with a $5 street hooker would be fun. i would probably throw up in my mouth!

i get your point though, but the analogy was just kind of disturbing.

You need to check out the $8 street hookers then.

I'm not completely sure if it's worldwide. I've noticed people in foreign countries selling more ebooks now. Anyone know?

If you look on ebay, I believe they said no more digital delivery after March 26th. If you do a search on these forums you will find it. I'm pretty sure.

Yea, digital delivery is coming to an end. I believe it's in their effort to "improve" their feedback system.

Why not use Clickbank or e-junkie to sell your eBooks?

Are these ebooks you wrote yourself or ebooks that have free resell rights?

i've got several ebook stores, which have powerseller accounts or at least excellent feedback, i can't imagine i have to give them up....
i've been selling ebooks and similar items since 10 years on ebay without any major problems! and now suddenly it may be over... very sad

I think he's asking because with other major eBook sellers like Clickbank and e-junkie, they have to be your own eBooks. I'm pretty sure at least.

yes, i will be listing my ebooks outside ebay.
i'm allowed to resell all the ebooks i'm selling (also the ones i've not written myself)

but i'd also like to find a way around this new policy on ebay.
maybe by just not offering "instant digital download" or by not putting the work "ebook" in my listings ?!
or sending everything via snail mail on a cd ?
any other ideas ?

here is an (interesting) interview with the ebay guy...

I was asking because if you wrote them yourself, it's somewhat of a significant investment. Free resell rights are things anyone can resell.

Also are these ebooks inexpensive like $1 so if you use a merchant account and get a lot of declines it costs you more money than you make? Or are they like $10?
