Buyer returned item broken, Paypal tells me I need to pay for an estimate
To make a long story short, I sold a $300 item to a buyer on Ebay. He got it and said it wasn't working and told me he took it apart to figure out the problem (I say in my auctions NOT to do this).
I talked to him on the phone and told him numerous user issues it could be. He acted like there wasn't a big deal and got off the phone to try some things I mentioned. A few hours later I get a paypal claim that was immediately decided in his favor. He was told to send back the item for a refund.
Well, I got the item and it's literally missing pieces. The idiot didn't even know how to put it back together. It's a pile of junk now. It was also cracked in transit when he sent it back to me.
I made a list, took photos and called Paypal about the problem. They told me I would have to get an estimate from a business for the damage. But to get an estimate would cost me $50 (I called around). Paypal said they can't do anything about it and oh well.
Does anyone know anyway around this? Can I make an estimate on my computer or will they be calling the company or something crazy like that?
