Default Personal or Premier account

I read the Paypal FAQ. I would think Personal is enough? Most people on eBay pay via Paypal, so I don't really need to accept credit cards right? As long as they have money in there Paypal account it's good?

I would think Personal has lower fees as well?

Since I will be selling cheap items ($10-20$) maybe Personal is good enough?

What do you think?

If you're going to be selling at all, I recommend at least Premier. Personally I always use Business every time.

and what is good about business? Multi-user access? What does that mean?

Don't you get charged higher fees for these premium accounts?

Like I said I will be selling cheap items. So between eBays cut, Paypal's cut, and shipping I might not make anything

If you sell more than a certain number of items in a month while using a Personal account, Paypal will force you to upgrade to Premier. You might as well go with Premier.

thanks coldwynter.

It asked me if how I would like to pay. Bank or credit card? I chose credit card because I know credit card companies can sometimes help you if you get screwed. Was that the right choice?

I made a bank account specifically for Paypal as well though.

You will need the bank account to get the pp verified. Wise choice on using credit card to pay since...you are right on more protection.

do most people do credit card? What if someone doesn't have a credit card?

I confirmed my bank account as well. I have to wait 3-5 days for verification.

You can't accept payments with a personal account... you have to have a premier account to accept payments.

Coincidentally I recommend getting the paypal account verified... which can be done instantly.

Business account just means you're doing business under a business name. You can do it as a sole proprietor, llc, corp, whatever... I believe paypal accounts that are business are able to get away with more.

yeah I chose Premier. I chose payment method with credit card and used my bank to verify. It's going to take 3-5 days to verify it says.

What is the difference of choosing a debit card/bank over credit card payment? Besides the security protection with a credit card company, is that the only difference?

It's the same.... you can't add a debit card specifically... you just click add debit card. IMO you're outta yer mind to add a debit card. Credit cards are the banks money, not yours. Debit card transactions are harder to dispute in the even something goes wrong.

I pay with a debit card, funds are withdrawn from my checking account.

I pay with a credit card, funds are withdrawn from an available line of credit.

Lets say ebay screws you by accident and forces you to refund someone who won't return an item, deducts the funds from paypal, and paypal charges your credit card on file. (keep in mind the credit card can be a debit or credit card)

Which would you rather have happen when it's deducted?

and that's where the credit card company backs you up. But you could still have problems if the a low credit card spending limit.

NOt sure what you mean. Most people wan't a vcc with no balance so no money is taken. And disputes are easier with a credit card company.

sorry probably confusing you just trying to learn.

Like I said in another post I am not here for anything stealth. So I am using my real credit card which has a limit. But it's still better than bank debt.

You're making a mistake if you don't want to do anything stealth ever.... I was young once...

see if your bank can generate you a virtual credit card from your real card. Most can.

what do I need a virtual though if I am not stealthing?

Maybe one day in the future I will have to stealth, hopefully not due to a paypal dispute or me being scammed...

Right now though I am just here to learn the basics
